Wow! I just had an amazing meal of fresh lobster. red snapper and shrimp.
We stopped at Ranchos de Veranos for a mid-afternoon lunch break during a Puerta Vallarta region tour. When we were greeted with a live presentation of the menu, I could feel that I was in for some good food and the cook did not disappoint! Everything was just as the tour guide said and more.
The family owned restaurant and Tequila distillery ( Guston Del Rey) is in a lovely village near a white rapids river south of the city. Its full of fresh air and charm as the meal is served on a large open air covered patio.
It was an excellent experience and the food was delicious. My husband and I had the seafood combo for 2 (priced at $57 or about 1200 MXN), but it could easily feed 4 to 6. We had so much that there was plenty to take back to our resort where we had a kitchen to heat up the leftovers. The meal was perfect the next day as well.
It's best to bring mexican cash to avoid paying extra for using a credit card. The entire bill was 1441 MXN or $80 USD (higher because of the extra fee) Unfortunately, we ran out of cash while shopping on the way down. Luckly, they accept credit cards.
At the end of the day, everthing was worth the price for the impeccable...
Read morePretty bad experience. Was reported to be the best distillery in the region. The tour of the distillery was barely 15 mins. You get to try a selection of tequilas then the guide walks you around a small area. The tequilas were pretty good but right after they rush you to the shop and encourage you to buy several bottles. You are then taken and shown whats on offer for lunch. 2-3 choices for meals for 2 starting at 850 pesos and up. The food was mediocre, you get a child's sized portion of rice with meats or fish plus extra charge for anything. You get tortilla chips but guacamole is 150 pesos extra. We ended paying close to 1500 pesos for some meats and 2 drinks. Since there is nothing else close by, you have no choice but to use their facilities. Use due caution and be careful if going. They try to prey...
Read moreHonestly a super fun tasting and the tequila is a really good and the lunch is great. Only issue that we ran into is the purchasing part after the tasting. They offer you a lot of different “promos” one of which is buy 5 bottles, get one free. We ended up buying $500 worth of bottles and they tell you they’ll bag it up while you eat and give it to you before leaving. We were supposed to get a free bottle, bit were given all of our purchases just before being ushered back into our tour van and realized they shorted us. I had also asked for an itemized receipt (which I didn’t get and the prices quoted didn’t end up adding up to what I paid) so all and all it’s fun and tasty but definitely a little sketchy and...
