Let me start by saying "This place is not a Tequileria". They don't make the tequila there. They store a few barrels. I am not sure if they are full or empty! They have mockup of old ways of making tequila, like a little museum! Then there is a restaurant and like all other tourist traps, a few jewellery and clothing stands. This place, for some strange reason, has contracts with cruise ships to bring tourists there. Their tequila prices are very high. Blanco -$45, Resposado-$55, and Anejo - $65. That is on top of what the ship charges you to get there. We went there with the blue bus for about $1.50 for both of us and the same for returning. You can catch the bus across the street from the cruise terminal. Destination is "La Desembocada". It is the village next to it. It will take around 30 min. The bus ride was interesting and that is why I gave two stars. If I had paid for the excursion, I would have been pretty upset. In the back of this place is a little walkway, which is somewhat interesting. It has a farm look. Just know what you are getting.

This is a beautiful property that is landscaped and located on the main highway to San Sebastian just north of the Rio Mascota bridge. If you are going to San Sebastian take the time to make a quick stop and a look around. The architecture reflects the traditional layout of a 19th century hacienda from the long open breezeways to the inner courtyard. This one even has it's own tequila distillery along with heavy oak barrels to cure the potent liquor. When it was operational dozens of workers tended the fields of produce and took care of the livestock while the wealthy owners lived a luxurious life in the country at the foot of the Sierra Madre and only Mike's from the shore of the Pacific Ocean.

This tequila factory visit was part of a Carnival Cruise excursion. This was the first of two tequila factories we toured. The guide was interesting and the tasting room was air conditioned. Everyone enjoyed the tasting..we tried six different offerings. They had some excellent tacos for sale at the stand. There was a market where vendors sold from different booths. Most items were reasonably priced but barter for a better deal. Some vendors were more willing than others..and I could see from all the people in our group those stands got the bulk of the sales. An interesting place with a little something for everyone.

Tequila Dona Engracia was the first of two surprises on our Royal Caribbean excursion in Puerta Vallarta. The building and grounds are pretty nice, especially compared to the surrounding area. They did a great job with the presentation of the history and details of making tequila, a truely educational experience for this good tequila fan. After the presentation they provided some background on all their different types of tequila and provided tastings if each for those who wanted them. This is a small distillery with some quality tequila from the Blanco to the extra aged Anejo. They also have some very good flavored tequila. In addition, they have a variety of other products they produce on site from honey to coffee to hot sauces. To finish off the time here they have a nice outdoor restaurant with pretty good food. Of course there are also some vendors selling a variety of locally made carvings, crafts, jewelry and other touristy products. All in all worth the stop and recommend stopping in if your in the area or booking...

Did a cruise ship excursion here that included horseback riding. We sampled some tacos at the end. This is a tequila factory, but I didn't tour that aspect of it. Upon entering and exiting, expect being funneled into a trap of people trying to sell you pointless things. This is typical.

The horseback riding was a good experience. The horses are well mannered and trained. They know the route and need little to no maneuvering. The route includes taking you through a village, clearly of poor folks, so you get to see that aspect of things. I really liked this. You also get to go through a more mountain rural type scenery with several river crossings on horseback. Scenic.

Upon finishing our riding, we sampled tacos at their restaurant. We did beef, chicken, and pork tacos. There is a garnish bar for you to add toppings. Their hot sauce is mighty zippy! Excellent corn tortillas, and we liked the pork tacos the best. Very flavorful. Will note that the chicken ones are shredded.

Overall, it was a...
