Puerto Escondido International Airport — Local services in Oaxaca

Airport is all right but very cautious flying with Viva Aerobus. On December 11th I flew from Puerto to Cdmx, then to Chicago, both flights with Viva Aerobus. In the process they lost 2/3 checked bags, one of which is a valuable guitar that I paid extra for special handling. Viva Aerobus has been so unhelpful in resolving this. I have called multiple times, and the days that I am able to get through without having my call dropped on one of their many transfers, a representative tells me they will reach out the next day with more details - they never do. Finally they sent me an email saying my case had been resolved, it has not been resolved at all. This weekend I will drive a few hours to Chicago just to be able to speak with a live representative at the airport.

Be very careful flying with Viva Aerobus. I paid nearly $100 USD in baggage fees only for them to lose or steal my luggage. Eventually I will have no choice but to sue...

The airport is ok, but the taxi is totally scam 🚨

They charge you 250 pesos to bring to the hotel which is less than 6 mins drive. Normally, it should cost around 50/60 pesos.

It is also does not offer you a better alternative for the transport. The coletivo charged us 200 pesos due the lugagues which does not make a big difference.

I wish that they would offer a better and fair pricen for transportation. I do understand that it is an area which depends of tourist activities, but it is not the sustainable way to make business. I felt abuse in my first minutes in town.

If you come with big lugagues, check the prices of transfer before or check with someone in town to organize son taxi. As the uber does not work, they will try to take...

WARNING! The Mexican national guard stole our money. They made us pull us over, which we did. They claimed different things. First, the windows were tinted too dark and when we showed proof they then said bc we had too many people in the car. He said they were going to give us a ticket, when we agreed he said no just put 1,000 pesos into my notebook it would be easier. We denied that and we just asked for the ticket he said no that he wanted at least 500 pesos or he was not letting us go. Be careful, we were on a family vacation and had 3 young children with us.
