Truly exceptional experience! My partner and I went halfway through our trip and both agreed we wish we would have started our trip with visiting Los Colibríes and also ending with it.
Upon arrival (which they also helped arrange for a car to take us to and from our hotel for a very reasonable price) we were greeted by the staff in the driveway. Right away they made us feel at home and offered us water and use the restroom before the experience.
Cecilia was my massage therapist and she is so intuitive and a magic worker. The massage was INCREDIBLE. 90 minutes, and the most relaxing massage I’ve ever had in my life.
Our treatment was mud mask for our body, 10 minutes laying face up and face down, then they rinsed us off and had us climb into a clay tub that were facing each other. It started off as a super relaxing shoulder and head massage in milky bath water and divine smelling oils. Cecilia even braided my hair back in the bath, truly felt so sweet and charming like these women love where they work and treat their clients sooo well. 💖
By the time we were finished with our massages we were both piles of goop and were giggling and hugging each other and cracking up and felt loopy and so happy. I wish I could go back here all the time.
Also - the owners Max and Valerie also helped us arranging to visit a cenote before our spa session and round trip with multiple rides from Cancun, to cenote, picked up from cenote to spa, and back home was $100 USD which felt incredibly reasonable and the drivers were both also so kind and safe and we were offered freezing cold bottles of water on our trips as well.
100/10 experience!!! We were so grateful for Max and Valerie and their team! Thank you...
Read moreThe setting is beautiful and the massage was relaxing, but there are two points which soured the experience a bit. First, payment is cash only, which would normally be fine (despite even the smallest shops in Yucatan accepting cards). But, the (French) owner sticks to fixed prices per currency regardless of exchange rates. You get MXN out of the ATM so that's what I had on me, but because of this I ended up paying the equivalent of $30 USD more than the price in USD. Not the end of the world, but an unwelcome surprise after the treatment. Be aware of this when coming here.
Secondly, the Mayan sauna (temazcal) is broadly advertised on their website, but it's out of operation. We were only made aware of this by text message on the day of the appointment. The owner says it's because of Covid - in 2024? Even when we asked him on site, he said it's too risky because of Covid, and he can't keep the sauna running for one couple at a time. I'm sorry, but there aren't any Covid restrictions anywhere, and this is clearly just an excuse. Be upfront and remove the temazcal from your website. You get an additional 30 mins of massage instead, which is also nice.
I personally wouldn't recommend the clay treatment, it was incredibly itchy. My girlfriend didn't have the same problem so maybe it's a leg hair thing, but I couldn't wait to get it off me.
Lastly, it's quite remote and their taxi from and to Playa will set you...
Read moreI love going to spas - it's one of my favourite things to do and this was by far the best spa experience I've ever been to. It is unique and the treatments are really good.
If you are looking for a luxury spa experience with robes and so on - this is definitely not the spa for you, but if you want to try something different and want to leave feeling like a heavenly noodle - book now!
We arranged transport through the spa from our resort. It was 1500 pesos from The Princess hotel and this was the return cost with the driver waiting there for you throughout your treatments.
We went for the $90 package where you start off in a steam room (clothing optional - but we and the other couple in there with us opted for swimwear) and then we had a mask. For me the best part was the massage in the bath. I could have stayed in that bath having a head, neck and shoulder massage forever.
You then go and have a full body massage.
Once the treatment is done you are treated to fresh fruit and a juice.
What I love most about this spa is that everything is at your own pace, you're not hurried from one place to the next and the people who work there are consistently checking if you're okay, comfortable etc they show genuine care.
We really, really loved this experience and are considering going again before we leave Mexico. We even got to...
