The place itself is lovely. I had such a wonderful trip.
Until I needed the bathroom. I have MS and require the use of the disabled toilet, even though I often don't use a walking aid. When I went to close the door on the disabled toilet, the bathroom attendant stopped me and told me that I'm not in a wheelchair and I don't have a baby, and therefore I can't use it. I explained that I have a disability and need an accessible toilet, and she proceeded to argue with me. She then brought me out of the toilet to look at the door and pointed at the picture of the wheelchair that shows that it's the accessible toilet. I then, again, said "I'm not in a wheelchair, but I am disabled", to which she proceeded to scrunch up her face, say "you?", looked me up and down, and said "no". This was a very loud interaction in front of a lot of people. It was a public spectacle. I was humiliated. It was so dehumanising. I do NOT need to disclose my medical information to a bathroom attendant, and I do NOT need to be publicly acosted and humiliated in front of swarms of people. I was just trying to use the bathroom after a lovely day out while on a family holiday.
A lot of disabilities are invisible. Someone not being in a chair doesn't mean they're not disabled. You do not know that person's needs. Someone could need that bathroom for a multitude of reasons, all of which are none of anyone else's business. Preventing somebody from using the bathroom they need because YOU do not deem it necessary based on how they look is straight up ablism. Pure discrimination. It ruined my day. I was so humiliated and hurt. You should be ashamed of how your staff treat those who need an...
Read moreYes the view is spectacular. The Cable Car is great...an engineering feat! We were advised by a local to go up to get the sunset. Unfortunately at this time this meant that there were huge queues waiting for the Alpine Coaster. In order to get that in we missed the sunset. We offered to upgrade our tickets to the fast lane on the Coaster. But as we'd purchased them online, we couldn't upgrade. We also couldn't get a refund if we didn't ride. So we queued for 1 hr 40 mins to ride. By then it was dark, they just wanted to get the queue thru. I think they rushed a bit and didn't let enough space between riders. I was behind a very slow rider, so my ride was dictated by her speed so I didn't crash into her....was very slow. We then had to rush for the cable car down. It was totally dark. Whilst the light were pretty, it wasn't want we wanted. We were there for 2.5 hours and most of that was spent in a queue. We then got ripped off by the taxi driver who charged us 60 Euro for the round trip. My advice would be go up 1 to 1.5 hours before sunset. Do the Alpine Coaster as soon as you get to the top. (Purchase the fast lane ticket). Then watch the sunset and choose to either go straight down on the cable car, unless you're happy to sit and enjoy a drink and go down the cable car later in order to see the lights.... Also, use the Coaster return ticket option on the cable car ticket to avoid the rip off taxi drivers. Sadly it wasn't a good...
