Established in 1909, the Yangon Golf Club has bragging rights as one of the oldest golf clubs in Myanmar. Its heritage status demands that golfers play here when visiting Yangon.

The course looks easy to play as it is laid out over with several lakes and a stream flowing through. But looks can be deceptive.

Hole 15 par 3 has a vast expanse of water to cross wihout a safety zone to land your ball. If you lack the confidence to drive 150 m, especially with a head wind, you can try chipping to the drop zone after the red tee box, which by the way is out of sight from the elevated white and the blue tee boxes.

A couple of the par 4 holes are long. Each stroke requires about 150 m to get on in three. But it is the par 5s that turn up the heat. They are indexed 1, 2, 3 and 4, making use of dog legs and hazards to test your course management skills to the max.

Three of the greens are unfortunate to be in need of major surgical turf transplants. Sprawling patches of barren earth will bring a tear to any golfer's eye to see the deformity and even more so in trying to figure out his line to the hole along those pesky patches. But action is being taken as they are preparing temporary greens for these holes.
