I will NEVER EVER buy anything from bushwackers Swakopmund/Windhoek again! In December 2024 we bought a beach tent for a R1350 in the Swakopmund store. That's quite expensive, but we really wanted one and we paid the money. We bought it around the 16th of Dec. A week later we had a beach day with family and we used the tent for the first time. Within the first half hour. The tent tore. We looked to check if there wasn't maybe a shell under the tent that could have caused it, but it wasn't. The quality was just extremely bad. Either from old stock or whatever the cause may be. We took the tent back the next day. We explained to the women, Frieda, that we wanted our money back because we won't be paying for something that breaks so quickly. She let us know that she will give us feedback within a week. No feedback came after the week. We drove back again to ask again why there was no feedback. She just said that she can't do anything because the company that sells the tents is closed. Could she not say that maybe before hand? Then we told her that we were leaving the country the 3rd of January 2025 to go back to South Africa so how do we go further with this situation, seeing that the tent company is closed. She basically couldn't give me an answer to my question and when the manager (man) came out he started throwing an attitude around quite literally, throwing his hands in the air and making a scene in the store, talking very loudly and saying to us "Now what must I do about the situation, there is nothing to be done!" (something along those lines). We were so shocked by this man's behaviour after we have been patient and just wanting to know what will be the next steps. After the scene they agreed that they would call the tent company when the holiday is over to discuss a refund and for them to come and look at the tent to see the damage. The whole month of January went by, we still did not receive our money back. The month of February came, they had so much issues with payments towards our accounts, everything was an issue for them. And if that wasn't enough they are SO BAD with communication. I would wait a week for a simple reply like "thank you, we will be making the payment" or "we can't make the payment because no one can authorise it". They are SO SO SO bad at communication. But I didn't give up because a R1350 isn't just a few cents and change. I wanted my money back. The WHOLE month of Feb went by... Still nothing. I also called them from South Africa in the month of Feb. Didn't help either. The Month of March came. Still a lack of communication. On the 14th of march I called the Windhoek branch. All of a sudden the money was paid into our accounts the 17th of March. Now please tell me why a customer needs to wait 3 months to receive a refund? After this extremely bad experience and service AND communication. I will never buy anything from them ever again. If I could give minus...
Read moreI have been a customer of Bushwackers since 2018. I would consider myself a loyal customer who has spent an estimated 20,000 NAD or so over time. My relationship has been predominantly with the Swakopmund branch. Last year we purchased 2 chairs from OZTent through Bushwackers. We have been actively using these since May this year. One chair has a torn seam and this is a warranty issue. As a long term traveler, it is not easy to go without the chair for an extended period of time. I have communicated with the Swakopmund branch and we have agreed that I will bring the chair to Windhoek when we are back in the country. That is what I did. I dropped off the chair with a copy of the invoice. OzTent promises a 5 year warranty. Less than an hour later, I got a text message telling me that they could not support me because Bushwackers is no longer an official agent for OzTent. So the boss has retreated to the position that Bushwackers no longer provides support for products that are discontinued from active sale. I was referred to Cymot. There I was told that they could not help me as they did not sell me the chair. I can understand as and had expected this. I asked several companies to find out how such a case is handled in Africa. All without exception felt that Bushwackers should have helped me. Further correspondence with the Swakopmund branch did not bring any new results. The boss in Windhoek stuck to his stance and refused me support for a product officially purchased from them that had a defect within the warranty period. I have in the meantime had the damage repaired and a strip of canvas was professionally sewn in. The cost was very minimal. Needless to say, Bushwackers has lost me as a customer. Despite the wide range of products, I can no longer recommend the store after the experience. I am sorry for the really nice and reliable crew in Swakopmund but in my own interest I have to switch to suppliers who are there for their customers in case...
Read moreWe have supported them from their opening day and through the years have bought many different items from them ranging from fishing rods and reels, solar lighting systems, tents, Weber braais, pots and pans , various camping chairs, a fully fitted camping trailer (except the gas stove which was not in stock) and various other camping equipment. We also bought a lot of gift vouchers for friends and family which also spent a lot of money with Bushwackers. When the trailer was bought in 2015 we were serviced mostly by an employee named Aldo, which until late 2016 promised us on various occasions that he will inform us when we can attend the premises to have the stove fitted. When we again telephonically enquired in early 2017 we were informed that Aldo has left their employ already in 2016. We then went to the store and explained the situation to the manager/owner he flatly refused to be of assistance and insisted that we have taken too long and that he cannot help us. This for a two plate gas camping stove after us being loyal customers for such a long time? Shameful!! Needless to say, we do not shop there any more and nor do our...
