Meet Manaslu, the 8th highest mountain in the world at 26,781 feet/8,163 meters, located in a restricted region of Nepal due to its proximity with the border to Tibet. Although traveling to this area used to be very difficult, it’s becoming easier, although the permits are still more costly and complicated to acquire than those for other regions. The circuit trek around Manaslu is remote and wild and so beautiful. The first several days follow the Buri Gandaki, a deep river gorge, via many suspension bridges through the jungle. Many monkeys were spotted. 🐒 On our day 4, we got our first actual sighting of Manaslu’s peak as the scenery changed to alpine as we crossed above the tree line. On our “rest” day, we hiked to Manaslu Base Camp and were rewarded with 360 degree views of the surrounding peaks and lakes. Finally, after a short night at our highest elevation, we crossed the high pass Larkya La over 17,000 feet/5,100 meters with our micro spikes and cold weather gear. We walked as the sun rose and began to see glaciers and peaks surrounding us. All along the way, the path takes you through many villages, past monasteries and thousands of mani stones with Buddhist texts, by rice terraces and towering waterfalls, and over rivers and canyons via suspension bridges. Everest is not the only thing to see in Nepal!!! #nepaltrip #manaslu #himalayamountains

The pass is quite stunning at sunrise and it is recommended to start about 0500… snow spike recommended for area after peak especially… and also if you go to Manaslu base camp on your “rest day”… as it’s 1400 up and down …accommodation is tight below pass so don’t hang around in day before as you may end up in one of the tents 10 days seems best advice as after pass roads are going further up the valley and you can get keep from talche… otherwise it’s 2-3 days on road to besisahar… as alternative track is wiped out by landslides etc Lodging is not as good as it here areas but it is improving slowly

Larke pass located at 5140m is one of the best and thrilling pass which goes all the way from Gorkha to Manang, it took us about 12 days to complete this trek. You can find tea house every 1.5hrs, but not on the pass. This trek helps to explore wild animals, birds, different valleys, magical mountains like Manaslu, himal chuli and many more.
