we started our trek from Manang's headquater Chame. After 9 hours of walk we reached at a tourist place called Manang (Chame to Dhukur Pokhari to Pisang to Humde to Bhraka to Manang valley). We took rest for the night in a hotel. Next day (3rd day) around 6 am. we headed to Tilicho base camp. We had our lunch in Shery Kharka which is about 3 hours from Manang valley. On the way to Shery Kharka we can find a place called Khangsar where we can get some food and other stuffs. From Shery Kharka to Tilicho base camp (TBC) there are no other shops or hotels. It was about 3 hours walk from Shery Kharka to TBC. We went pass a bit dangerous Land slide way. We stayed at a hotel for the night. Next day early morning we started our walk to our main destination Tilicho lake (4919m) . It took us 2.5 hours to reach our destination. We enjoyed the view and walked around for another 2 hours. There is a small tea shop on the view point of Tilicho lake (4950m). Same day we head back to TBC , had lunch there and walked down to Khangsar and stayed there for the night. Next day travelled down in a jeep to Besi sahar. Hotels in Manang are bit expensive in comparison to other places. So make sure you have enough budget. If you are going during trekking season then don't forget to take sleeping bag and necessary medicines which you can find in BesiSahar. If you feel dizzy up (head ache) there don't force yourself and immediately take the medicine, come down or lose the altitude. During winter all of the hotels are closed due to cold. Best of luck !! I hope this info will be helpful for you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give this place fewer stars, I would. I had a troubling experience with a staff member at the reception that left me feeling unsafe and unsupported.
I accidentally left my backpack rain cover inside my room when I checked out. After realizing it was missing - 30 min after the checkout, I asked the staff member at the reception if it had been found. He initially denied seeing it and seemed evasive. When I was given a key to check the room, it had already been cleaned by him, and the cover was gone.
Suspecting that the staff member might have taken it, I requested to speak with a supervisor, but my request was completely ignored. How can someone responsible for managing the place be involved in this kind of behavior?
When I returned to ask more questions about whether anyone else had accessed the room, the staff member continued to ignore me. I was the only person with a key until I gave it to him, and I was certain the cover was left behind. His attitude was unhelpful and rude.
I also learned that another guest had her belonging stolen the night before, and the same staff member had dismissed her complaint as well.
While some might view it as a minor item, it was important to me, and the entire experience left me feeling unsafe and disrespected. I wouldnāt recommend this place to anyone.
This was the only bad experience I had during my entire journey around the ACT, making it all the more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTilicho Base Camp (TBC) is a small camp site on the way to lake situated at the world's higest altitude- Tilicho lake. The elevation of TBC is 4100m approximately from the sea level and it takes around 4 to 6 hours to reach from the last town accessible by vehicle-Khangsar.
TBC is an isolated place, accessible with very dangerous trekking trails. You get no network signal and the only means of communication is sat phone and poor wifi available in one of the hotels. On contrary, the closeness you feel with nature, the amazing himalayan range that surrounds you, the adrenaline pumping trails to reach there...will make you forget about the limitations to amenities.
TBC have only 3 4 hotels to accommodate the trekkers who stay there for overnight before making up to the Tilicho lake. So, it really can get impossible to get room during the season (Autumn) when the place is flooded by internal as well as external tourists. The food served by the hotels there are not so tasty and the selection is very limited due to difficulty in carrying all those items and ingredients to such a place. The price is also high as all those food stuffs are transported by using mules over several days. It is recommended to carry dry or canned food if you are picky over foods and if you are bugdet traveller.
There is always high chances for altitude sickness so, acclimatization before climbing to higher...
