Mount Numbur, often referred to simply as Numbur Himal, is a prominent glaciated peak located in the Rolwaling Himal mountain range of Nepal. Standing at an elevation of 6,958 meters (22,828 feet), it is a significant mountain, though not among the coveted eight-thousanders. Numbur is situated approximately 43 kilometers southwest of Mount Everest, marking a geographical boundary between the Janakpur and Sagarmatha administrative zones. The mountain is recognized for its imposing appearance and challenging climbing routes, primarily consisting of snow and ice. Its first successful ascent was achieved on October 14, 1981, by a French team. Numbur Himal plays a central role in the popular Numbur Cheese Circuit Trek, an emerging off-the-beaten-path trekking route in the Ramechhap district. This trek not only offers breathtaking views of Numbur and other surrounding Himalayan peaks, including glimpses of the Everest range, but also provides a unique cultural immersion experience.
