If you want to pay movers to stand around…this is the moving company for you. If you want a moving company with any sense of work ethic…choose someone else. When my 3 hour job, took a team of 3 a total of 5 and a half hours, I was bracing myself for the overtime bill. When it arrived, I spoke to the manager to voice my concerns. Although he did come through with a discount in the end, I was still billed for 4 and a quarter hours for them to move a well boxed, well organised 3rd of a truck (rounding up) a whopping 4.7km. See pic of what they had loaded in over 2 and a half hours. The manager justified the expense saying that is how long it takes to move stuff. I suggest that, at the pace they saw as reasonable, they could not have moved an average family home within a 5km radius within a day.
Extremely disappointed.
Edit. In response to the reply from the company. The only stressful part of the move was watching the moving crew standing around. The only wrapping/boxing the crew did was 6 ‘single seater’ sections of a couch placed in plastic. 1 Tv, and 2 queen mattresses. That is a 3 person 15 min job. Anything else was already boxed, and only needed loading. All delicates (art work etc) we took responsibility for moving. Along with moving everything from outside, and another 6 car loads.
The saddest part for me is that the crew knows that wasted time. Playing with Volleyballs, and toy guns, on the phone organising KFC. Not a little time, but a lot of time. So much time I felt I had to take photographic evidence of the lack of progress being made. Still, no ownership of the poor work ethic. No acknowledgement that the service wasn’t up to scratch. I am still left wondering, if this is as fast as this team could have gone, you can’t use this business to move a whole house in a day. If we had left them 5 beds, 2 tvs, computer equipment, 2 lounge suits, a dining suite, outdoor furniture, there is no chance we would have been out by the time the property had settled. Based on this companies acceptable work rate, it would have been a 15 hour job.
Most valuable feedback I can give, is that optics is everything. When you are being paid $250 per hour, there is no time to stand around. At the end of the day, if they were not just standing around for significant periods of time, there would have...
Read moreShould be able to rate this team twice because we moved twice in the space of a quarter. Both times the entire team was professional, friendly, careful, funny, and personable. After the headache of moving overseas and having that go very poorly NZ Movers made this last leg of the trip so pleasant it almost redeemed the American leg of the journey. When we had to choose a company for our last move we picked them instantly. We were delighted to have the same team that was with us the first time. Joe, Corey, and Keanu oversaw the entire move and were amazing BOTH MOVES. Ryan and Dan did an incredible job on day two and Josie, Lorraine, and Mel O were incredible on day one. We have a fair amount of stuff by American standards, and a colossal amount by Kiwi standards. The team took all of our crap, kids, dogs, cat, horse, and mean neighbor's dog in stride. If they were bothered by it, it certainly didn't come off that way. They even put up with a toddler and a nosy five year old asking them all the questions.
Brandon and I will be highly recommending NZ Movers for the many expat doctors and venture capital folks moving after us and we'll make sure to recommend the wonderful team we had personally. Thank you all so much for being our perfect welcome to our new lives in...
Read moreWe moved from Whangarei to Christchurch and we had the worst experience with NZ Movers. The salesman was great at the start but unfortunately for us that was where it ended. They miscalculated how much stuff we had and left us stranded with left over items on move out day. The packers/movers they sent up from Auckland were lazy/incompetent/crass. They spent more time talking and eating (and leaving there rubbish around) than they did packing. They packaged our stuff terribly and lots of things were damaged/dented. The people who moved our stuff in to Christchurch were much better, although they dented the walls moving our stuff in. As time goes on we have noticed a lot of our things have been stolen. For example (most recently) as Winter has arrived and we’re about to hit the snow we’ve realised all our gloves have been stolen. The list goes on and on. I would never use this company again, they are a...
