Just home from an unforgettable 3 day Tora experience. Such a beautiful piece of Aotearoa. A slick operation run by Kiri and crew. Sublime food and gorgeous touches throughout like vases of fresh flowers and fresh eggs. Accomodation a mix of cosy, sleek and charming, all very comfortable and spotlessly clean!!! Poles were highly recommended by our group, definitely good for saving the knees. Lots of optional extras- the crows nest was a lovely and quick climb, highlight being we saw a herd of sheep being skillfully mustered from way up as well as breathtaking views of the bay. Bush area was my absolute fave with so many natives and the bird life (when we were not talking/laughing too much) was delightful, piwakawaka following us along the track, as well as tui. Very grateful to have this on our backdoor step. Will be talking about these few days for a long time to come. Thank you to the Tora Coastal Walk team- all we spoke to were friendly and full of useful info, met a few locals who were lovely too. Very cool to see a farm in operation as...
Read moreLoved this 3 day walk. The hosts are lovely, the food is excellent and plentiful (bought snacks just in case but didn't need it - took them home The group I was with. Included 2 gluten-free, 1 vegan and 1 non fish eater all were catered for and loved their meals) . 3 different accommodation places during the hike and all were clean and tidy (range from farming iconic to beachside luxury). The hiking requires a good level of fitness as some treks hilly and up to 16kms. However you are only carrying your day pack, with your main bags transported ahead to your nights accommodation. They also transport a chilly bin for you (if you wish) we put wine in ours, which they placed in the fridge for us each night. Great experience but feeling...
Read moreOne of the best things I've ever done. Have recommended to so many already. Lucky enough to join a group of ladies who had a spot available. The hike was fabulous. Glad I had a pole to stop me falling in mud in places! Food absolutely fabulous. Unfortunately didn't quite reach the Trig as experienced extreme high winds right at the time when we were there, getting down low (just as Kiri advised us to do) wind was crazy! I'd do this walk again 😊 PS. Suggestion for a promotional item, small thermos. We could carry coffee/tea to have if wanted, clip onto backpack. Our group would buy them if...
