Had to hire a car as mine was being "looked at" for a few days just before I found out I needed to attend a funeral (and was asked to be a pall bearer). Before leaving the airport I decided to have a pot of tea and a snack at one of the cafes. Had a nice little chat with the very personable cashier lady and exchanged some banter with the lady on the service desk. Returned the rental this morning and decided on some breakfast at the same cafe. Upon presenting at the cashier desk, one of the same ladies from the previous day was there. When I commented on this fact her reply was "Yes, that's probably true, I seem to live here" 😊. Again a lovely little meal and drink was consumed. I even had a delightful conversation with an older lady doing the same as me while waiting for her adult son to arrive on his delayed connecting flight from Australia (Perth I think). BTW Sparrows seem to be able to get into any public place where there are likely to be crumbs (of any sort) on the floor even with automatic doors (and they are absolutely...
Read moreArrived in Napier today from the South Island. No information desk in the brand new Airport. Asked Air NZ staff if there was a bus into town and was spoken in a completely rude manner. I was told I needed to walk to Westshore for a bus. A walk of some Kms with an awkward bag and across a dangerously busy SH2. Surely a brand new airport would have an information kiosk and be on a city bus loop, linking up with Intercity. Why did council approve the new build without insisting on those facilities? Government are prompting public transport yet it just doesn't exist at Napier airport. You would never know how many people would catch the bus to and from if there is NO bus to and from. Eventually got a taxi after a 30minute wait and paid $30 to get into town. Napier's new airport is just another money gouging venture, nothing to do...
Read moreShocking experience Thursday 5th March 5 minutes (if that) late for checking bag due to road works between Hastings/Napier. Would not let me board with bag . Couldn’t exactly go to Auckland for 3day conference with no bag!! Would not let my bag on next flight if I had chosen no bag option. Had to pay extra $100 to rebook on next flight two hours later! Was so late for conference!!!!!!!!!!!Colleague I was flying with had to leave without me. Boarding had not closed when I arrived I could of wheeled my bag out to plane !! I understand you need to stick to schedules but really this was ridiculous. If I had arrived at 800 for a 810 departure I would understand but arriving 7.43 surely I could of...
