We were unable to be present at the actual delivery, but had a designated representative for us to meet the movers at the house. So I can't comment on the guys themselves or the speed and efficiency of delivery, only on what we found when we arrived. My wooden bookcase had quite significant damage and will be difficult to repair. I spoke with the manager of their partner company and unfortunately no one is taking responsibility for this. Also, all the wrapping and packaging was still in place, although the contract stated that this would be removed and the furniture set up. Our couch was still in two halves, the table still wrapped, beds not done, etc. The company is full of excuses, the main one being that we weren't present for delivery. We were not told how vital it was that we be there in person. The company seemed quite happy that we have someone else meet them. One excuse was they "didn't know where to set anything up". I'm sorry but a lounge is a very obvious room. Even the beds were in the correct rooms, just not set up. The company said that our representative was coming and going, so no chance to ask about things. But then they also said that they were told to leave the unwrapping and not to worry about setting things up. So which is it? Either our representative was there to talk to or not. He gives us a different story and said that nothing was mentioned about setting up furniture. The company then said that we should have called earlier so that they could come back out to set things up. We arrived on a Saturday, thinking it would all be sorted. The company was closed. We couldn't wait until Monday as we needed our beds, table, etc, especially with young children. It wasn't practical to wait two days for them to come and finish a job that should have already been done. We paid a very large amount of money for this service. We feel we're owed some back due to the damaged bookcase and the job not properly finished. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen as no one is accepting responsibility. We still haven't even had a formal apology.

Even then the communication were inaccurate and they didn’t honour what they committed to. Packing: for a 4 bedroom house, one guy showed up and was missing essential packing materials. Because it was home on his own for the most part he took a number of shortcuts that I am now paying for. Delivery: a number of items were poorly packed and poorly handled that they were damaged. Some of the items he dismantled arrived missing essential screws and bolts and nuts that I can’t assemble them. At least for items were gone missing. The boxes where so poorly labelled they are now sitting all over my garage I don’t know what belongs where that I have to open them box by box to figure it all out. I’m horrified at what other surprises await me as I open the boxes. Absolute waste of disappointment of a service that I paid a premium for!!

What a morning watching the pros do their work! It is actually fascinating to see how fast they can be, and how they problem solve and how they tackle moving our piano and solid wood bookshelf up the stairs. Kudos to Shane, Tyler, Geoff, Arterm, James, and Craig! Definitely trust them to do their good work! They know what they’re doing and no complains moving upstairs and downstairs multiple times. We definitely gave them a good workout today. 😅 Much gratitude!

Excellent job by the NZ Van Lines New Plymouth team! I recently used NZ Van Lines New Plymouth for my move from New Plymouth to Australia, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the entire experience. From start to finish, the process was handled with professionalism, efficiency, and genuine care. Simon and Robyn were absolutely fantastic to deal with. Their communication was clear, consistent, and proactive — they kept me updated at every stage, answered all my queries promptly, and provided excellent guidance throughout the international moving process. Their friendly and supportive approach made what could have been a stressful time feel easy and well-managed. The packing and loading team — Corraine, Tiff, Geoff, Jo, Artem, Tyler, and Shane — were equally outstanding. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and treated all my belongings with great care and respect. Every item was carefully wrapped, packed, and secured in the container to a very high standard. It was clear they took pride in their work and wanted to ensure everything arrived safely. What stood out most was how smoothly everything went — there were no surprises or issues, just a seamless and stress-free experience. We had an amazing experience moving with NZ Van Lines New Plymouth. Lorraine, Geoff and Awa came in to pack the day before the uplift. They were so friendly and professional and it was just a delight to work with them. Lorraine did a brilliant job packing up the whole kitchen. All the fragile items (glassware, crockery etc.) were wrapped with such expertise and care and have all arrived safely with no damage whatsoever. Awa and Geoff were very efficient in packing up the bedrooms, home office, and garage. Everything was labelled so clearly which made unpacking at the other end a breeze. All the furniture was wrapped with care and nothing was too much trouble. Had such a nice day with the packing team with good vibes, chill music and great chats and banter. It honestly felt like working with family!

The next day the uplift team came and they were a force to be reckoned with. Awa, Shane, Tyler and ?Caleb made short work of loading all the boxes and furniture. I was very impressed with how careful and gentle Awa and Tyler were with moving my piano. Again, nothing was too much trouble, and Shane and Awa even made up a special box for my little house plants which all arrived safely and are doing well!

Overall it was such a great experience moving with NZ Van Lines New Plymouth. I highly recommend them and would definitely move with them again! To the incredible team: Thanks so much for making our move such a seamless and stress-free experience and for all your hard work and care! You guys...
