Pekapeka Regional Park — Local services in North Island

Beautiful spot, lovely to walk around and see biodiversity thriving, albeit mostly introduced species. I went quite early in the morning and seemed to surprise a lot of birds not expecting people at this time. Perfect stop off spot and nice easy walk for kids although no toilet. I can see lots of recent work to trim and take care of the area. Unfortunately the lookout deck itself was closed as there'd been a large fire in the middle of it - hopefully this get fixed up soon. The view is just as good from the path by lookout so this doesn't detract from the view. Perfect little wetland park, will revisit and stay longer...

On our visit, there didn't appear to be much bird life, and one of the walkways was closed off due to damage. Would have been more appealing if there was information about what birds may be seen here. Able to walk around it in less than half an hour. CCTV in the car park, so I'm not sure if that's a good or...
