Waikanae Swimming Pool — Local services in North Island

I would have awarded 5 stars as this is a lovely venue, however like its sister pool in Paraparaumu they fail to keep the facilities clean. On this particular visit I asked a pool crew member if the tables and chairs could be cleaned, they weren't just grubby but absolutely filthy. I was told they were cleaned every evening. I pointed out that it was 10am and could someone please clean them. I was told I would have to wait until more staff turned up. They were eventually given a quick swipe. I love this place. I wish it would be also open over winter somehow (magically turn outdoor pools into indoor with a giant overhead rooftop). Spent the whole summer in there. Bring a picnic/ bbq is usually available to hire I believe.various pool sizes are friendly for kids of different ages. The hydroslide is a highlight for the kids and adults alike. there's three different size pool catering for every age. All pools are heated which makes it possible to have an all day visit without the children getting cold!

Grass area surrounding the pool is huge and dotted with sun shades and picnic tables. Find a space, setup a picnic mat and swim!

Boundary is securely fenced and the site is very sheltered from wind.

Staff and life guards are helpful and vigilant.
