Wainuiomata Summer Swimming Pool — Local services in North Island

Had a great time here with my 5 year old and nearly 2 year old. We spent most of our time in the 70cm triangular pool, however we did venture into the 80cm larger pool as well. My toddler had a great time in both as well as the toddler pool area. My 5 year old and I checked out the hydroslide and it was super-awesome! Very very fast. I didn't know it was a separate charge to the pool entry so had to go back to purchase passes for it. Also the slide rules state that parents are not to hold children on the slide, which can be difficult when you have a nervous child and have to leave them behind. Having said that I did see parents/adults with kids on their laps going down. The change facilities are good, however I didn't see a baby/toddler change table in the female change rooms at all, which would have helped. Last, my son basically got locked in the toilet as he wasn't strong enough to unlatch the lock and I was only able to get him out by using my keys to turn the latch from the outside. Had it been necessary I'm sure the staff would have been able to help.

Awesome facility and the perfect spot for a full day out or family celebration. Great mix of pools with plenty of space. Very friendly staff. Water is not super warm on a cold day but perfect after a while and there's great spa if needed. Plus lovely hot showers. Waterside is a blast - quite terrifying for a geriatric mum! Spotted a couple of built-in cookers that were being really well used. Plus playground for littlies and even a bit of a mini golf area. Amazing! Our 3 families with different ages all had an absolute blast. $20 for 2 adults 4 kids. Waterslide is $3-4 more. Pop 2 mins along to the Excelsior bakery for their awesome cream donuts and pies. I had seen this advertised on TikTok so we made sure to come over the hill on our holiday wellington. It does not disappoint! Multiple pools and activities for the kids, a spa and the fastest tree Hutt waterside! The staff are super friendly, pricing is excellent - my daughter got a $10 multipass and I swam free as her carer for an under 10. You can bring in your own picnic - heaps off shaded areas and grass to lounge on and a small kids playground when they need a break. I would definitely recommend coming out this way on...
