IF YOUR BROWN, TURN AROUND!

From the moment I entered the office, I was made to feel uneasy & uncomfortable. "Do YOU have a booking with US?" Looking me up and down. Once I explained I did, she told my husband & I to park up & she, the owner (I presume) will show us where to park our camper. In the meantime she greets guests, gives them maps of campsite & wifi password & sends them on their way. Comes to us, not knowing any of our details & puts us in a tiny spot right at the entrance & side of the office & the owners private residence. She then instructs me to come back to the office to pay & get the wifi code. We had already paid online. Her husband then appears in the office to see us too, once again looks us up & down & gives us relative paper work, explains it will be a noisy night & that's that. As we tried to settle in, we noticed a lot of staring from these two, so unsettling & weird so we left for the evening. My husband was going to confront you both over this behavior but I insisted he leave it as we were trying to enjoy the end of our honeymoon. Yes we are BROWN skinned, it's 2023 & still we must have to deal with being sterotyped! Brown, white, black, yellow; we all pay the same & deserve the same treatment. Get off your high horse lady!! You made us feel so uncomfortable & from reading past reviews we can see this is a common occurrence, which is really sad.

Luckily the river down the road put on a much better vibe & scenery than your racist...

If you are looking for Miss Trunchball style of service then this is the campground for you! On checking in we were met by a lady drinking and was made to fell like I was in a principals office. I couldn't remember if I had paid or not as my booking was made 6 months earlier- an answer, not a telling off was required. Two hours later I was again required to go the 'principals office'. I was cooking dinner and was told it couldn't wait as they were due to close. This was not nesscarey as I had already paid $420 and was therefore unlikely to run. A fortnight before I arranged by email for another child to be added. A tent beside us was suggested and despite asking for a price none was given. In the hostile 'principles office'  $181 had to be paid immediately for the extra child. This was excessive. At this price we would have made other arrangements. Another evening, I was abruptly told I needed to clean the bbq while talking at distance to another couple using it. We selected the campground based on the Sauna. This is incorrectly listed as a facility on their Webpage, rather than below under 'Hire Item'. We saw no one use it as a result of this undisclosed cost. I sent two emails while staying to resolve, but my questions were not answered. Experience was completely ruined by this staff member. The next place we stayed was Timaru Top 10. Amazing place! Amazing staff!...

Well where do I start....Me and my son arrived at the seaside holiday park and we met Vicky at the front counter which was the only person who I dealt with the 2 nights stay and the second I walked into the door she was very un welcoming. Prior to arrival I had quite a hard time with my booking. I had booked the ocean hut and then I realized she had just changed the room to a cheaper one but wasn't charging me less so I told her I booked the other room, so finally we arrived and already on a bad foot, she was very discriminating and I'm not quite sure whether it was a race thing or just a me thing but she wouldn't give the key id paid one night for and she made it very difficult to pay for my second night stay by trying to shut her office early and keep me out when I had paid and also she tried to refuse giving me the complimentary milk you get on arrival. Also me and my son noticed that their staff was hanging around our room and while they didn't know we were in our car they were spying through our curtains. It was a very strange experience and although the place was a lovely place it definitely was an uneasy not very relaxing experience. I'm never going back there and I think that VICKY definitely needs to do some customer service experience before dealing with all the customers. She was very rude and very discriminating I'm shocked and soooooo...

Great little camp ground, close to the beach (which is also a great spot for watching the sunset). Our cabin had all we needed when combined with the good kitchen facilities. Quite far from Whanganui town centre which didn’t bother us. Toilets were clean, showers were not push button but depending on which one you chose the spray wasn’t always the best, normal for camping though. I would come back if I was staying in Whanganui again.

Probably one of the cleanest communal toilet/shower area I've seen (out of the 10 campgrounds I've been to) in North Island. Kitchen facilities are good (baking trays, pots and pans available). Nice and friendly receptionist/host. Only negative (through no fault of the campground) is some of the noisy boy racers at night around the area. Less than 5 min walk to the beach, would happily stay here again.
