Not only did they make a mistake and wrap gluten food and label it gluten free, which put my husband in hospital with ambos suspecting a heart attack (small contaminants are easily dealt with, with a common medication) ... I called this morning to say my husband ended up in hospital, put his neck out badly due to the violence of the vomiting back up their clearly, mislabelled food. The company owner took no responsibility. She blamed the company my husband works for. She told me I have no idea what it's like cooking gluten-free (for my gluten-free family and self). She told me there would be cross contamination. She did not ask about my husband. She blamed everyone but themselves for a mistake. She didn't care about the extra expense for us as a family for needed massage or, the fact my husband spent a week off work recovering. She said "all they said was gluten free, not that there was a coeliac". My husband has eaten their food before and been fine - which means, this time, someone mislabelled the food. My son could hear her doing her best to talk all over me and only defend her company and show no care for my husband until I mentioned she'd not shown any concern for him whatsoever. She was combative right from the start and in no way, shape or form was she going to say sorry. And she didn't. Not until I mentioned she should and then, not sincerely. What was I after and expecting? I was after a discussion with a caring individual who would take responsibility to find out how the mistake happened so it wouldn't happen again. I was after someone caring who would calmly just say, "Oh, my goodness, I'm so sorry, we'll look into that and see what happened". That is what usually happens when someone makes such a mistake. I was sorely disappointed to the point I had to hang up on her as she would not stop going on about nothing being their fault and it being the fault of the company who hired them.
In addition: Not only did the owner grease up to hubby's boss yesterday and say she'd check procedures etc. He got a personal letter today - where she "apologised" for his coeliac disease landing him in hospital, still claiming it was cross contamination because, as she said to me yesterday "flour flies everywhere in the kitchen" (funny, but I don't have that issue in mine) when it was proven in hospital and she's aware of it - that cross contamination has NEVER landed him in hospital - AND - refusing to cater for him personally ever again. So, obviously there is and was NO intention of taking responsibility, expressing any sincere care, or checking their...
