This review is nearly seven months overdue, but it’s definitely well deserved. The only reason I’m writing this now is because of the incredible hospitality shown to us by Sanaa and her husband.
A little background: we were a party of six, including two young kids (ages 6 and 4), traveling all the way from the USA to spend our vacation in New Zealand. Due to dietary restrictions in our group, I reached out to my dear sister Sanaa to request home-cooked meals for us upon our arrival in Auckland after a 16+ hour flight.
Communication with her was seamless, and she even provided us with a full menu. Here’s what we initially ordered: • Chana Chaat • Mutton Biryani • Mutton Karahi • Beef Nihari • Two dozen Chicken Shami Kebabs (she even fried them for us) • Plain Naan (family pack) • Raita
She asked for details like our preferred spice level and whether we wanted potatoes in the biryani. She also went the extra mile by purchasing a pack of frozen naan for us. All I had to do was pick up the food after arrival and head straight to our Airbnb to feed my family!
Payment was simple—I was able to send it through a service similar to Western Union. Sanaa kept in regular contact about our arrival time and provided timely updates. Even when our flight was canceled and rescheduled for the next day, she was incredibly understanding and accommodating. When we finally landed, I texted her, and she let me know she was just putting the final touches on our order.
I headed to her house directly from the airport, and to my delight, everything was professionally and hygienically packed. Her husband also welcomed me—they are both such warm and kind-hearted people, mashAllah.
Now, I had expected the food to last us a few days while in Auckland. But I kid you not—we devoured everything by the end of the second day! Even my mom loved every dish.
We were enjoying the food so much that we decided to place another order before our flight to Queenstown. We wanted to try Halwa Puri, which she normally only makes on weekends, but she graciously prepared it for us on short notice on a Friday morning. We also got more Shami Kebabs, and for my mom, Bhindi Bhaji.
Since we planned to eat at a park before our flight, we asked if she could include a few disposable plates and spoons—of course, she kindly did.
Once again, I cannot praise her food enough. The fact that my mom, my sister, and even my two autistic children enjoyed everything made the trip truly special. Sanaa and her husband made our trip a memorable one. Her husband also offered helpful local recommendations—overall, they are just a beautiful and pleasant family.
May Allah grant them abundant barakah in their rizq and well-being. Order from them without a second thought—not a single regret, InshAllah. I genuinely look forward to hosting them in Houston one day, InshAllah!
Thank you for making our trip...
