Location is gorgeous - near Matakana and Leigh. We had a great time last time we stayed but this time left something to be desired, we stayed in the Matai cabin and left early. Cobwebs everywhere (nearly ate a spider), showers didnt work at all well, bunks disastrously uncomfortable, owner repetitively told us we needed to be quiet by 10.30 when we checked in and later told us we were too high energy hence the repetition, and gaslit my sister when she approached the issues. I'm ADHD so it felt a little disabilist. We were charged an extra fee, while only $6 there was no explanation of why? The owner when we checked in left a foul taste in the mouth, which made the issues a little more annoying. Wont be back, and wont recommend to anyone.
in response to the delightful owners reply The $6 charge was on top of the $5 parking fee, so thats a lie. In addition, emails recieved advised it was waterfront which it was not.
We arrived as 2 adult ladies - hardly en masse, humble attempt, sorry for being cheerful. Guess guests should show up miserable! There was noone on the phone.
We cleaned the cabin before we left like any respectful beings - left it in better condition than it was originally.
His response just verifies his personality - if everyone was treated the same,...
Read moreA real horrible experience from the time l pulled up to check in. Was yelled at not to park were l had. The sign was not visible to me as a large vehicle was parked blocking the sign. Booked a room with cooking facilities as my mum had special food requirements and couldn't get the stove operating, no instructions on how to operate and tv won't not go, even though there were instructions for it. I never realised any of this until after office hours. l never went to office, as the way l was spoken to earlier when l arrived was so unprofessional. On check out l let them know and the way l was spoken to was appalling. Definitely needs to get lessons on customer service. Also the lighting out side to the other amenities was appalling, a really health and safety issue. I also wasn't the only one that had been spoken to unprofessionally, as l spoke to another person as l was loading the car to leave, said they also found the office person unapproachable. I am a Kiwi, now living in Australia back here on holiday and we usually stay at Whangateau camping rounds but thought we would try somewhere else. BIGGEST MISTAKE ever. I have never encountered such appalling customer service like this, if l could service...
Read moreThe facilities at this park could really benefit from some improvements, particularly the bathrooms. During “quiet hours” the main bathrooms are locked (ironically while music is playing over the speakers), and all park guests are directed to use one of the three family bathrooms instead. By 9am, an hour before checkout, the main bathrooms were still locked, and a queue had formed.
When my family did eventually get a turn to use a family bathroom, it was disgusting. The toilet stank and there was no lid to close it, the room was steamy and wet, and there was rubbish all over the floor. Aside from a couple of hooks which are barely enough for one person let alone a family of four, there is nowhere to put personal items except for the dirty wet floor, and no baby change facilities, which meant I had to change my baby out in the hallway. Nothing family friendly about these family bathrooms! All up an unpleasant and disgusting experience.
I think keeping the main bathrooms open in the mornings, adding change tables, proper shower curtains, lids on the toilet seats, and including shelves or benches in the family bathrooms would make a big difference to families...
