New Zealand Movers Dunedin — Local services in South Island

This experience started out well. I loved dealing with the lovely Rachel from the DUNEDIN office. Absolutely nothing bad to say about her, she has been amazing from start to finish. The Wellington guys impressed me too, especially since my bed didn't fit through the door so they completely dismantled it and rebuilt it for me. They even checked behind the curtains for spiders for me (yes I'm a wuss). It was while unpacking that I realised the complete lack of care the Dunedin team showed to my stuff. I found glass jars rattling around inside my chest freezer with no packaging, I had boxes of fragile items buried in my laundry basket underneath HEAVY boxes with no thought or care, and my ornamental coffee table was just thrown into a box that was too small for it to begin with and with no other packaging at all! Absolutely appalled! I know the odd thing may get broken when moving but when I opened said boxes to discover my grandmother's ornaments and China shattered from being CRUSHED ( there were quite a few things in various boxes crushed) and my coffee table broken to the point there was a chunk missing, I was absolutely wild at the complete lack of care for my stuff. I sent through emails to the company (I prefer to deal with complaints direct if possible to give the company a chance to respond) but the only response I got was after waiting awhile I sent a copy of my emails to the lovely Rachel, who forwarded it to the appropriate people. Have also since had no further communications from the people who were supposedly 'investigating'. I have had no apology or respect at all for the fact my stuff was trashed, it wasn't even about money since most of my stuff had sentimental value rather than monetary. It just feels like the whole 'debacle' has been swept under the rug and considering how lovely Rachel and the Wellington team were, I feel slightly horrible saying it but I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY - DO NOT USE NZ MOVERS UNLESS YOU WANT YOU AND YOUR STUFF TO BE...

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS COMPANY!

We recently relocated from Auckland to Wānaka and had our home contents moved by this company. While we waited to find our new place in Wānaka we had our contents stored in a container at the dunedin branch.

We were told it would take a week for our stuff to arrive in Dunedin, so a week after the move we asked if we could come by the dunedin branch to pick up our plants that were relocated (a previously organised arrangement).

When we arrived at the Dunedin branch no one could find our container and ALL of our home content was unaccountable. No one in Auckland or Dunedin knew where our stuff was. It was simply missing... Nothing was done to easy our concern and not one single person we spoke to from the company wanted to take responsibility for this.

Weeks later they found our stuff in an unlabelled container still in Auckland and told us it was coming to Dunedin ASAP. When we tried again to go pick up our plants (worth over $1,000) we opened up the container to obviously find them all dead, after weeks without care.

NZ Movers promised to reimburse us for the damaged pots and dead plants, and would give us a $200 voucher... They never delivered on that promise.

I went back to pick up other boxes of things that we needed and upon unpacking them I found damage to important items such as my guitars and appliances.

Yet to have the rest of our stuff unpacked and as you can imagine I am very nervous.

When you sign a contract to have someone move your stuff and you pay lots of money to do so, it's expected that your prized possessions and all of your home content is well looked after and that the professionals treat you and your stuff with respect.

But this is clearly not the standard or expectation adopted by NZ Movers.

NZ Movers are the most unprofessional service I've ever had to use and I honestly wouldn't recommend...

I am very disappointed with the whole service that I have received from New Zealand Movers. On the planned day of pick up, I had my whole day wasted waiting for a pick that never happened. It was lucky that I wasn't leaving myself that day. I still was very busy and didn't appreciate having my time wasted. When movers finally arrived, I found them to be slack, rushed, slightly rude and unconcerned regarding the care of my furniture. They told me that they would put the furniture in the truck without packaging or wrapping most of it. Leaving it vulnerable and unprotected. They said that they would finnish wrapping and packing it in the Dunedin depot. This was obviously NOT done. When the furniture arrived at its destination in Auckland, the delivery people where very embarrassed on your behalf because of the obvious damage that had occurred due to neglect and negligence whilst handling my property in transit. It is very obvious that the damage that occurred would not have happened if due care had been taken throughout the handling of my property. Most of the damage such as scratches, chips and dents, appears to have occurred when other items have been placed on top of my items that where un protected. The It would have taken considerable force to cause the damage to the hall table. The screws had been wrenched out. This damage would not have occurred if due care had been taken when packing my items initially. NZ Movers have been rude and un helpful in dealing with this matter and refused to take any responsibility. I accept that I did not take out insurance for my items and would understand if it was an accident and all due care had been taken Once again I would not use...
