The Ross Creek Reservoir is an artificial lake in Dunedin. One of the oldest artificial lakes in the country, and the oldest water supply reservoir still in active use in the country, it was created in the 1860s to provide water for the city of Dunedin, at that time in the middle of rapid expansion due to the Otago gold rush.

Read moreA nice walk from town. Mostly easy but very steep going up the reservoir. We always walk through the Woodhaugh Gardens and along the Leith Valley. The main entry is lower down Ross Creek at Glenleith. There are various entry points along Burma and Tanner Roads. There is a drinking station for dogs and some poo bags provided.
