My family were so excited to stay here, as we had heard great reviews but that wasn't the case for us. I really hope this unit gets the attention it deserves. Looking at the other reviews, we might have had a better experience staying in the camp site. Our family stayed in the 'Park Motel' and were very disappointed with the state of the room. It is in need of some serious TLC and an upgrade of décor. All the furniture is tired looking and in poor condition. There is no aircon however you should provide fans, especially with how bad the humidity was when we stayed. You aren't able to open the windows or doors, with the amount of insects around (I understand you're in the country and that can't be helped) hence why fans are needed otherwise screen doors or ceiling fans The couch smelt damp which we avoided and there were spiders in almost every corner of the rooms. No vent in the shower, so the steam overflowed into the unit and added to the condensation, plus the window handle was broken. No dust pan or broom, had trouble with the hot water in the kitchen. Carpet should be replaced or have floor boards. I would've taken more photos, but we just...

Our favorite accommodation on our tour of Northland! Stayed for three nights at an unpowered site and absolutely loved the park. It’s a great spot to access 90mile beach and base for day trips up the cape.

Many accommodation options (cabins, bunks, un/powered sites) but has a great hostel vibe. If you want to meet people, you can here. Reception area is in large open lounge area with dining tables, computers and TV (with sky).

Reception has a few food staples for sale but there is a small dairy, takeaway and one cafe in town, a ~30 minute walk.

Kitchen was stocked with crockery and had everything we needed. Space can get tight around meal times but people were friendly and shuffled around to accommodate everyone. Really nice BBQ area too!

The park was well landscaped and felt like paradise. Wifi didn’t reach our unpowered site but the couches are so comfy we didn’t mind hanging out in the lounge or courtyard to access.

Highly recommend Ahipara...

The "just take any site" policy that seemed to be in place affected us three times during our stay... First, was when we arrived, we were told to take any powered site, so we did. Only to receive an earful from a less than understanding other guest with neither the intellect or compassion to understand the mistake. Second, a short while later after we picked a new site and moved, another guest had been told to take the site we had just taken. Fortunately he didn't care, so he found another site. Third, the following day, prior to us heading out for a day trip, I enquired at the office as to a way we can reserve our spot as we liked it, and would be leaving it vacant until we returned in the evening. The person in the office assured us this would be fine and adjusted your booking program to reflect our site selection. Only to find our spot had been taken on our return. A bit annoyed, we went and found...
