Trollfjord — Local services in Hadsel

Although I would have preferred to fly home from Kirkenes I was very happy to have seen the Trollfjord. We weren't able to enter it on the voyage north as the weather wasn't good enough to do so safely. The mail boat cruises were a good experience but became boring unless you could take part in the more active excursions. Time in the ports is often very limited and although the staff on the ships were charming...

We were in Trollfjord around 10:00 p.m. on our Hurtigruten cruise in August 2018. Though we couldn't see as much as during daylight hours it was a "spooky" experience. The ship used its spotlights to light up the fjord.

Il sorprendentemente stretto Trollfjord è un arco laterale di 2 km lungo il Raftsund tra le isole Lofoten e l'arcipelago di Vesteralen. Con il suo stretto ingresso e le montagne ripide, il Trollfjord è veramente esotico e spettacolare.

La stretta fessura del Trollfjord è larga solo 100 metri e si estende fino ad una larghezza massima di 800 metri. Le ripide montagne che circondano il fiordo sono tra i 600 ei 1100 metri di altezza.

Durante i mesi estivi le navi Hurtigruten effettuano una deviazione , a seconda della situazione atmosferica - un'esperienza indimenticabile! L'ingresso è così stretto che sembra impossibile che una tale grande nave entri, e sembra ancora più impossibile trasformare la grande nave alla fine del fiordo.

I lati di montagna incredibilmente ripidi aggiungono a questa straordinaria esperienza e le aquile del mare che circondano le cime di montagna sono abbastanza comuni....
