The Makra is a scenic peak in the Mansehra District in Hazara Region of the Himalayas in northern Pakistan. It is 3,885 metres (12,746 ft) high and almost 200 kilometres (120 mi) from Islamabad on the Naran Road.[3] From Kiwai, a single 7-kilometre-long road runs uphill to Shogran, a tourist resort with numerous hotels; the track continues to climb up to Siri Lake and ends at Paye. From here it is a trek of nine hours to the top of the Makra. Hiking on the Makra is difficult due to snow and the gradient of the mountainsides.

In spite of its difficulties, the summit offers the good views of Hazara and Azad Kashmir. Fatalities tend to occur in bad weather, especially thick fog, and as a result of the steepness of some sections. The waters from the mountain's glacier feed the Kunhar River. The place has been named as Makra Peak by locals as Makra (means spider in Urdu, the local language) due to its shape in snow resembling that of a spider on a web. SHORTEST, EASIEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL ROUTE OF MAKRA PEAK.

I along with two friends Yasir and Muneeb summet the Makra Peak on 28 August, 2015.we reached Shogran by jeep at 1100 hrs and proceeded to Sirri Paya by a hiking of 3 hours. We camped there and visited Paya Plains (PAYA-I, II, III). It a very beautiful place. On 29 August, 2015 at 0900 hrs we left Paya for Makra Peak and after four and half an hours we reached at the summit. There was no snow at the top except in Makra glacier.we had lunch there and passed about two hours. Weather was changed and it was started rain during return to Paya. On 31 August, 2015 we returned via Faridabad (Bhopnja). It was a hike of 5 hours...

Makra peak can be accessible from Paye meadows through trekking/hiking of almost 4 to 5 hours. It almost 12,746 feet high. Before sharing my experience I want to give some suggestions if you want to summit Makra peak

  1. Don't bring extra thing with you in the bag, it will create difficulty when you get tired.
  2. Bring Jacket (Not too heavy), cap, sunglasses, sunblock (if you don't bring this, your skin will be burnt due to high intensity of sun), Water, chocolates, snacks, dry fruits in small quantity.
  3. You must bring a hiking stick with you, because when you tired, it really help you while climbing.
  4. Walk slowly in small steps and take frequent stops.
  5. While trekking, avoid talking or laughing.
  6. Use water in such a way that I shouldn't be finished till you return from trekking, use small sips.
  7. Avoid carbonated water, you may get dehydrated and will not be able to walk anymore.
  8. Use full sleeve shirt, stretchable trousers, and joggers with nice grip.
  9. Be more careful when you cross base camp and start climbing makra peak because it is very steep.
  10. When you are returning, don't lose your balance and don't...

Makra peak is almost 8km away from shogran and almost three to four hours hike from Payee lake. Its 12,467 feet hight from sea level. The place has been named as Makra Peak by locals as Makra (means spider in Urdu, the local language) due to its shape in snow resembling that of a spider on a web. From Makra Top the visitors can enjoy the picturesque views of the Kaghan Valley on one side and mesmerizing Kashmir on another.
