Read moreI visited Taboga Island just for two weeks so my perspective is more touristic than anything else. Local people are very nice here. Also known as the "Island of Flowers", is a volcanic island in the Gulf of Panama, about 20 km from Panama City. Around 1,600 inhabitants that are mostly Panamanians and just a few foreigners that have made it their home. I encounter few Americans living in the island that they come over to visit and fall in love and decided to move and retired here. A postal Paradise to enjoy life and breathe deeply. The history of the island dates back to the days of pirates and was a popular rest stop for Captain Morgan and his crew. It’s also known for having the second oldest church in Latin America and it’s colorful flowers throughout the town. Flowers at the church are plastic, by the way. Besides relaxing and enjoying the playa you can walk through the quaint and colorful town, people are nice and open to talk and tell you stories about the town.
