Now just a government outstation, the island caters for health care, education, social and economic needs for nearby communities both on the islands and mainland. Samarai Island is 1 hour dinghy/ outboard motor ride from Alotau town and has beautiful sandy beaches and clear blue seas. For that real Milne Bay holiday, why not take a trip to Samarai Island. You won't be disappointed. My island home ♥
