It was a great experience when we climbed the Bud Bongao last April 29,2023. We were 4 seniors communing with nature at its best while trying to catch our breaths!! There were thoughtful sheds for us to rest! Young and old locals coming down encouraged us to continue because we looked like as if we were about to give up. No way !! We were sheltered by the afternoon sun because of the huge trees! And a few macaques monkeys eyed our trek with sharp interest! Finally we saw the shrine of Sheikh Makhdom then we know we were near the apex! It was such an exhilarating moment to see the calm sea below us and trying to dry our sweaty bodies when we’re joined by 4 young people from Cotabato after the regulatory photo ops with them , we started going down Being a bit disappointed because the sunset was covered by clouds. The trek down even with cemented steps and walkways were equally treacherous to our knees and calf muscle! We thank the Lord Almighty for giving us this opportunity to experience His...

A good vantage point to see Tawi-Tawi’ capital, Bongao and doing this in tge morning trek is a good way to start your day.

The trail has improved since the last time my friend went on hiking. It has now concrete pavement and stairs. Anyone can go up on their flip flops but its recommended to wear proper shoes for safety purposes.

Bud Bongao is also the home of most monkeys and birds in the province. Monkeys roam around the area and some wait for visitor to feed them with banana. They are also friendly so please don’t frighten them...and please respect their place. We are just visitors in their area.

For guide needs, please look for Ate Sidang. Their house is near the airport and willing to...

A 3/10 in terms of difficulty climb yet the view were stunning! A must visit place where you can relax and of course 100% safe to go to for tourists. The locals were friendly including the monkeys who lived within the santuary. Make sure to bring water and some bananas as treat to them (monkeys). Bring back your waste if you have and don’t hurry in climbing up, enjoy every step and explore the beauty of Bud Bongao. By the way, there’sca 20 pesos entrance fee that will be collected...

Mountain-top experiences are always wonderful. I would suggest you hike at daybreak, 5:30 am to get a glimpse of the sunrise. Please wear trekking shoes or shoes with treads, there are areas in the trail where it is a bit slippery because of the moss. Also bring water to drink.

You have to hike a cobblestone trail with 3,068 steps to reach the peak of this sacred mountain rising at 1,122 feet above sea level. Once you reached the view deck you will have a glimpse of both the Celebes and Sulu Sea. A perfect place to watch the sunset!
