it's an eco-park so manage your expectations! took the family there for an overnight and that means a 9, 8 and 4 yo in tow. Location: the road from asturias was pretty rough, dangerous in some areas although traffic was non-existent. take the usual cebu-danao-danasan route for the paved roads but you'll get stuck in heavy traffic. Although far, it is beautiful. Located in the mountains, you'll see some fantastic views of what remains of unspoiled Cebu ... Accommodation: stayed in the caida room, which was alright - P2800 for a family of 5, with breakfast. Ref, tv and ac were working fine. They use the old-school water heater so it doesn't provide enough for a shower but still better than nothing. Only bummer is that nextdoor was a group of bikers and they practically threw their stuff everywhere so they took up even our little area outside (there's a recliner, and table and bench for each room). The Mahogany Rooms looked really interesting and more secluded but the walkways were not lit so pretty scary for young kids and can be dangerous to walk through at night... Restaurant: Not a big selection but ok in portions. Prices were ok - 250 for 6 pc chicken, 50 for half platter of rice, 250 for pork sinigang, 150 for the breakfast meals. Good value on the breakfast meals, they dont stint on the protein.... Pool: Very pretty, infinity pool facing the view of the mountains. If you're lucky, you'll see some fireflies flitting about in that area. Comfortable recliners and crates-turned-chairs and tables are placed nearby. Shower and toilets are conveniently located near to the pool area... Amenities: For 380, you get to zipline and then go horseback riding to get back to the main area. 380 for 1 hour of wakeboarding. 500 for the ATV but I think it was only for 15-20 mins. The folks at the ATV area were not friendly, the guy helping my kid on the ATV was a little grumpy, actually cut my son's ride short saying that he might break the atv (?!) so would not recommend the ATV. The zipline was a good experience for the kids - even my 4 yo old did it :) But best value is the wakeboarding. The guy first did an exhibition which made it look easy. Took us a while to get our balance but they were so patient and helpful. All 3 kids got to wakeboard with the guide and they loved it! Best value by far, would go back just for that alone!... they also have the waterfall trekking and rappelling and other activities but had to stick to those that can allow kids' participation... All in all,...
Read moreWe arrived at Danasan around 3PM. We wanted to zipline, ride ATVs and stay the night. Saying the road to this venue is rough is a massive understatement.
When we arrived, it was obvious that the place has seen better days. Since they close at 5PM, we decided to zipline first. We waited a fair bit before the handler arrived to harness us in. One of the people setting up the gear on the cable wasn't quite sure how to do it that he dropped the metal roller/gear thing on the ground. Once the guy assisting us with our gear was done with us, thankfully he assisted that guy setting up the rope.
My husband got stuck on the zipline. Yes he did. When I reached the other end, I asked the guy who was helping me remove the harness what happened and he said that my husband was probably not buckled in properly. That was incredibly scary and irresponsible.
Once they got him down, they had us hop on a horse to go to the atv area. We shared one horse. I thought we were going to each have our own. When we got to the ATV area, nobody was there and the person helping us with the horse had to find where the person in charge for the ATVs was. They couldn't find him so they said that since we were staying the night, we could do the ATV in the morning. The ATVs looked badly damaged like it was just for parts (missing front brakes, seats dislodged, metal parts sticking out)
They had us hop on the horse again to get us back to the Info Desk. While walking, the horse got spooked and the guy hit him and pulled that the horse ending up rearing his head and I got hit square in the face. We ended up falling off the horse and landed on the ground. We had to be quick and make sure we don't get trampled on. Still reeling, we got up and the guy asked us to hop on the horse again. I got a cut on my face and my head was hurting because of the hit but the guy said I just got hit by my glasses and we should hop on the horse again. We decided to walk the way back. The lady at the info desk assisted me with my wound but then started asking for payment. We did and cancelled everything else. Take note that there were no safety gears worn during the horse ride.
We had to drive straight back to the city to get checked at a hospital. The place didn't even offer to help at all.
I've been to this place years ago and this place now is nothing like that. Now, it's just a barren place that has not been kept well.
We're not coming back here and if you value your safety, maybe rethink going...
Read moreWe decided to go to Danasan Eco Park early one morning spur of the moment, and even though we called them and texted with them the people who checked us in were not expecting us. It seemed like a group of 4 Koreans were the only other guests at the time. You are given a list of things to do which includes quite a selection of exciting items such as wake boarding and canyoneering, so we decided to start off with the zip-line and horse back tour while we decided what else to do...this consisted of waiting for staff to get zip-line equipment set up, zipping down to platform for 60 seconds or so, waiting for staff to unset up zip-line equipment, get on horses to be hand led up a trail that was at least 50% along a road that was under construction complete with concrete getting poured...while the staff on a horse with t-shirt marked "guide" carried the zip-line equipment back to starting point...||That was it for us, back in the cab and off we went...if something simple like that was so poorly handled I did not even want to experience the more difficult tours. ||||Now a bit about getting there...||1. This is quite a drive from Cebu City, we opted to hire a car (1500p one way) to get us to Danao and then take the suggested habalhabal (motorbike ride) to the park and were going to take the bus back to Cebu afterward.||2. They do offer shuttles both from Cebu city and Danao, I would suggest using them, at least they can't say they didn't know you were coming. Our schedule prevented that.||3. Lucky for us our driver said he had never been there and would like to go see it. This would obviously cost us more but ended up being the best choice we made all day. ( I ended up giving the driver 5000p for salvaging what could have been a disastrous day.)||4. Pay close attention to the 26km road leading to park from Danao, I ride motorbikes all over the Philippines but this would not be a ride that I would want to be on the back of with someone I don't know driving....we never did find out the cost for this. ||||I imagine if we had a larger group and had made advance reservations this may have gone off entirely different. But having been in the tourism business for over 25 years, the number one rule for your customer service depends on treating 2 people with the same enthusiasm you treat a group of 25 or you may never get the groups of 25 because the group of 2 was scouting your service. ||||I don't like writing bad reviews or extra long ones but in...
