During our tour in the Philippines we were undecided between going in the more “know” El Nido or to discover Coron Island and we decided for the latter. Since we started looking for hotels, we realized how there were not many nice places/restaurants to go but, this made us think that probably we would have found less tourists as well. In the island, to go around you need to use tuc-tuc and i strongly advise to get one and visit the town; there, do not expect to see anything breathtaking but, you really can feel/experience the authentic Filipino culture and i personally loved it. Wherever you decide to stay in terms of hotel you can ask to book the Coron boat tour but, we advise to get a private one. If you are a couple or small group of friends, it will cost you 100$ but i am sure you won’t be disappointed. As it happened many times in Philippines we realized how many of the tours end up being overcrowded by tourists but, having your own boat, allow you to get in every spot before everyone else and to stop anywhere you like without following the “group schedule”. On top of this, they will provide you with a nice typical lunch: grilled fish, rice cooked vegetables. This boat tour was probably one of the best we had in Philippines and you will see the Lake Kayangan, WWII Japanese shipwreck, Twin Lagoon etc etc; i do not want to spoil more because i am sure you...
Read moreIf you are into diving as myself this is an unique place as you can see a lot of sunken II World War Ships. Apart from that, it is just sad. The thousands of dogs that wander the streets have all the possible deseases in the world at the same time, most of them covered in open wounds and blood. Poverty taken to its ultimate limits.. I have been in India a few years back and my mind may be playing tricks on me but I would say I have seen levels of poverty in this island worse than I have seen in India, specially if you rent a motorbike and ride the whole island. Prices are increíble expensive! The only thing cheaper than Europe prices are cigarets. Food, accommodation and everything else you may need is much more expensive. I agree in a certain way that foreigns should pay a little bit more expensive for services in this kind of countries but there is a limit. Getting a trycicle for 100 or 150 pesos when the locals pay 10 I believe is just too much. This is the most expensive place I have been in Southern Asia by far. Island hoping is also nice but the ones in EL Nido are better. There is not any proper beach on this island so you will always need to pick a boat to another island even for enjoying your time on the beach. Having seen the ship Wrecks, this was my first and last time in Coron. The best thing here the Filipinos, super friendly and...
Read moreCoron is one of the best islands I have ever been to. This Island is in the Philippines. Very beautiful island with amazing sceneries and a lot of water activities. There are several areas on the islands that you could go and visit. It includes Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon and several beaches. There's also a WWW II Japanese skeleton shipwreck. The water is so clear. I recommend to do snorkeling to fully appreciate the underwater sceneries. There's a lot of colorful fishes and corals underwater . The beaches and the water are so pristine. I recommend to get a tour package which include a boat of your own with a crew . That's the best way to visit the island. This will allow you to go to places at your own time and not limited to a specific group time schedule. The crew will even prepare your food , typical Filipino food like rice, grilled fish and vegetables, all fresh and freshly prepared while your on your way to the island. This is really one of my unforgettable travel experience in...
