Kalanggaman Island, located in Palompon, Leyte, is a stunning destination that offers visitors a glimpse of paradise. However, getting there is half the fun, and the journey itself is a unique and exciting experience.
To reach Kalanggaman Island, visitors must take a 1-2 hour boat ride from the town proper of Palompon. As you set out on your journey, you'll feel the thrill of adventure as the boat rocks gently on the waves. Mild waves will splash around you, and you might even catch a glimpse of some tiny flying fishes swimming alongside the boat.
The boat ride to Kalanggaman Island is not just a means of transportation, but an experience in itself. As you venture further from the shore, you'll begin to see the beauty of the surrounding waters and the surrounding islands. The clear blue water is teeming with marine life, making it a popular spot for snorkeling and diving.
As you approach Kalanggaman Island, you'll feel a sense of excitement building within you. The crystal-clear waters and pristine white sand beaches are visible from the boat, and you'll start to get a sense of the incredible beauty that awaits you on the island.
We arrived at the island around 10am, and the heat was already quite scorching. I suggest, if you're planning a trip to Kalanggaman Island, it's important to note that the best time to visit is early in...
Read moreWent there with friends and stayed overnight on May 29, 2022, Sunday. Almost all of the huts were occupied which was not common for a Sunday but I guess a lot of people missed travelling, and that was fine.
From the port in Palompon, it took us an hour to reach the island.
Note that the sandbar which I think is the highlight of the visit to this island is (of course) subject to the rising tide. Our tour guide missed to remind us of this but it's a good thing that we already took photos of the feature at around 4pm when we arrived. It was nowhere to be seen the following morning.
We opted for a tour package with buffet dinner and breakfast. It was a good choice.
Huts were open but for the night, you are expected to sleep inside tents. As for me, I preferred sleeping on a beach bed which I rented. It was breezy and was not raining anyway.
Clean water is limited so expect some difficulty in bathing or using the toilet. There is also no electricity in the island except for some solar-powered lights.
If you are the type who enjoys the outdoors and fine with not being pampered with comfort, the experience should be great. As for me, I just wish the locals and the tourists take better care of the place. Have seen some garbage near the shore. Mostly fallen dried leaves, but have also seen poorly disposed face mask, plastics etc. which...
Read moreWe were not lucky enough when we visited this place because that was raining aside from its not peak season, we were only three riding the boat from palompon to Kalanggaman Island, we were able to pay three thousand pesos for the boat rental.
Although the area is very gloomy when we reach there, I can literally say that this island is haven. . the water is like swimming pool. if you just want to relax its one of the perfect place you can have to, too far from the busy street no loud music and no pollution. but you should prepare also that there is no electricity, no fresh water (that time 2016) the water they were using is direct from the ocean. there was also two available Comfort room that time, I was able to roam around the island and there was this area at the back portion of island that there were garbage. I think those garbage were from the previous tourist since the present rules when we were there was, from palompon port the guide will give you a garbage bag on where you will put all your garbage and they will check it as soon as you come back in Palompon Port.
The long stretch of sand bar is truly amazing but you are not allowed to swim there its delicate because of the strong wind. Given a chance I will come back to this placed for to appreciate more...
