Iloilo International Airport is a breath of fresh air compared to the bustling hubs of NAIA and Cebu. Its spaciousness is immediately noticeable, providing a relaxed atmosphere that is not often found in busier airports. The abundance of seating options is a welcome sight, ensuring that waiting for your flight is a comfortable experience. The airport staff are a standout feature, their warmth and approachability making the airport experience all the more pleasant. They are always ready to assist, adding a personal touch to the overall service. The airport is also commendably clean and tidy, a testament to the hard work of the maintenance staff. The availability of elevators is a thoughtful addition, catering to the needs of the elderly and PWDs, ensuring accessibility for all. The shopping and dining options are plentiful, with a variety of shops and cafes offering local products and pasalubong items. These establishments provide a great way to pass the time while waiting for your flight, and also a chance to grab a last-minute gift or souvenir. The roads leading to the airport are wide and well-maintained, making the journey to and from the airport a smooth one. However, there is room for improvement. Some metallic fixtures have shown signs of rust, which could be addressed to maintain the overall aesthetic and functionality of the airport. Overall, Iloilo International Airport provides a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable travel experience. Its spaciousness, friendly staff, and clean facilities make it a standout choice for travelers.

I recently traveled through Iloilo International Airport and had a mixed experience. Upon arrival, the security at the entrance insisted on seeing my boarding pass, which was confusing since I hadn’t checked in yet. I had to show my flight ticket instead, which felt unnecessary and added to the stress. The airport itself is quite small, so immigration was a breeze, which was a positive aspect. However, I was taken aback when I was required to pay a terminal fee of 784 pesos in cash for my international flight. They do not accept credit cards, which is quite inconvenient. I was fortunate to have enough cash on hand; otherwise, I would have had to search for an ATM, potentially risking missing my flight. It’s worth noting that this is the first time I’ve encountered such a fee at an airport, and I believe that terminal fees should typically be included in the flight ticket price. Overall, while the airport is manageable, the cash-only policy for terminal fees and the security protocol could definitely use some improvement.

I feel like many reviews of Iloilo airport have been unfair, even one reviewer comparing it to NAIA, which is an absolutely unacceptable comparison. Also the airport is just over 10 years old, which is hardly considered “old” by any standards. These people should have seen Mandurriao airport before this airport was built.

If departing, security will check your ID/passport before entering the terminal but once inside, the line to check in bags moves quickly — by comparison, days ago I waited 3 hours at NAIA terminal 2 just at the check in counter to check in one bag. There is a small terminal fee before you enter the boarding area, which has several dining establishments including a Bo’s coffee for that all important caffeine fix. For smokers there is a smoking area in the boarding/departures area. There was some previous complaints about lack of signage concerning gates — all I can say is that this airport has 3 gates served by jetways and maybe a small hard stand area for regional prop aircraft. That’s really all there is to this place. The gate should be printed on your boarding ticket.

Arriving at the airport is a breeze, I can’t speak for immigration procedures as I have never taken the flight from Hong Kong on Cebu Pacific (yet) but I am certain it can’t be as much of a headache as arriving at NAIA.

I am highly satisfied with and recommend traveling through Iloilo...

The departure area of Iloilo International Airport presents some challenges that could benefit from improvement. During busy hours, the drop-off experience can be chaotic and disorganized. It requires skillful driving to navigate and find a suitable spot, which may cause delays for less experienced drivers. Additionally, there tends to be a long queue outside the airport entrance, indicating the need for more X-ray and inspection personnel to expedite the process.

Inside the departure area, the check-in counters can become crowded, especially for passengers with multiple pieces of luggage or those traveling in groups. This congestion can make navigation difficult, hindering a smooth and efficient check-in process. Furthermore, the absence of a functioning escalator leading to the waiting area forces passengers to carry their check-in luggage up the stairs, which can be inconvenient and burdensome.

While the presence of pasalubong shops before the final inspection is convenient for last-minute souvenir purchases, the availability of food stalls beyond that point is limited. This may pose a challenge for passengers looking for a variety of dining options before their flight.

One aspect that could be improved is the clarity of the PA announcements before boarding. Passengers reported difficulty understanding the announcements, which can cause confusion and potential missed...
