“... A Freguesia de Alcabideche foi criada em 1841set26. Em árabe, “Alcabideche” significa “Fonte de Água”. Há muito que se crê que as duas grandes fontes de Alcabideche têm virtudes medicinais: “a da vila é muito diurética e cura a dor da pedra; e a de Fartapão cura a diarreia”. O culto a São Vicente esteve sempre muito ligado aos velhos cristãos (moçárabes) que no período islâmico viveram no território a sul do Mondego pelo que não é de estranhar que em Alcabideche tenha sido atribuído o orago daquele santo a um templo. Nesta zona os cristãos já eram maioritários na altura da independência portuguesa. Em 1589 Cascais foi dividido em três paróquias: a de Santa Maria de Cascais, a de São Domingos de Rana e a de S. Vicente de Alcabideche. Mais tarde a Junta da Paróquia de S. Vicente de Alcabideche foi formalmente criada em 1841 após a reforma administrativa de 1836.
