Leiveira Azulejos — Local services in Setúbal

Exceptional place!

I’ve already been to Leiveira three times, and each time I bring different people to discover this wonderful Azulejo tile workshop, i am not getting bored of it.

The staff are absolutely lovely and take the time to explain the entire tile-making process before guiding us through the various workstations.

It’s one of the most renowned tile manufacturers, with international clients, yet the atmosphere remains warm and intimate.

The best part is to that you can create your own Azulejos — which you can pick up a few days later after they’ve been fired. It’s a fantastic experience for lovers of craftsmanship and for children alike.

It’s best to book in advance, but they’re also flexible with spontaneous visits.

We did a full day tour of Azulejos de Azeitão and Sesimbra for a team off-site, and Oriana, our guide from Around Lisbon, was excellent! She let us take our time in the attractions, offered a few options for lunch and stopped at the Cristo Rei sanctuary before dropping us off back at the hotel. Worth visiting we think. We stopped there via guided tour a few weeks ago. Gentleman does speak fast, and is very busy, but does a decent job explaining the process and history of the tile creation. He has a small assortment of tiles and tile creation art to sell, and it's reasonably priced. If in the area, and visiting other small towns...definitely stop by even if...
