Stayed here for a week during a recent trip to the Kamchatka Peninsula. The location is in a small village called Paratunka but there's nothing within walking distance of this place so unless you have your own transport there's not much to do. I was put up here by Kamchaintour which provided me with tours and activities for the week and pick up/drop off each day so that was fine. ||||The lodge itself is very modern and has English speaking staff and a great restaurant with a menu in English with many choices so having dinner there every night was not a problem.||||There's also a nice thermal pool which is used by guests and locals all day and night.||||The rooms were nice and modern and quite comfortable. Can get uncomfortably warm in summer though as there's no air con. Also remember to take mosquito repellent - they're everywhere in summer in Kamchatka. ||||Wifi can be accessed but is expensive and doesn't work very well all over Kamchatka so not really worth getting. ||||So overall a really nice place to stay as long as you have transport arranged to...
Read moreSometimes someone at the desk can speak some English and sometimes not. We stayed in 3 different rooms over two different stays. The regular rooms were cramped but clean and comfortable. We spent one night in the honeymoon suite. It was very spacious and had a living area with large tv and 2 uncomfortable couches separated from the bed by a curtain. There was a small bar in that room. The restaurant menu had a lot of variety. Food was not fancy but good and very reasonable. The breakfast buffet was very good with a lot of variety. Many police and officials dine there, especially for breakfast. The hot spring pools are clean and comfortable. The price for their rooms was on the high side compared to much of Russia. One caution: it is about 40 minutes from the airport and far removed from anything interesting, but it is a modest drive to the heliports that service Valley of the Geisers...
Read moreI like this place. The rooms are basic, at least the one I stayed in, but absolutely clean, and it had everything I needed. The big deal is the mineral pools and on the weekends it can be quite crowded. Seemed like people were coming from all around to jump into the pools. The staff seemed quite vigilant about keeping the temperature correct. I didn't smell any chlorine, and to be honest, I would have preferred if they used a little. Can't imagine what the bacterial count is, although they change the water one a week. Only takes two days for an tinge of algae green started to appear. I am in no way suggesting that there is anything wrong with the way they are doing it, but I'm just saying a little chlorine would have been my preference. Staff at the front desk and restaurant were super nice. |I thought the experience here was...
