I was travelling with a small group, visiting local schools, and we stayed here for almost a week. It's a fabulous location, with amazing views exactly as they describe, over the forest and surrounding hills. We were not blessed with great weather, but that gave us even more atmosphere, with mist gathering in the valleys. There were 4 of us in the King's Palace hut, and we had plenty of space. The design inside allows a little privacy, although that also made it a challenge to find the door in the dark without tripping over something! (I would bring a torch next time). The toilets and showers were in a separate hut, and were nice and clean, although didn't always have hot water. The staff were wonderful, and looked after us really well, helping us with everything we needed. There was a great selection for breakfast, which was plentiful, with excellent coffee, and a good choice for evening meals too. The weather forced us to spend a lot of time there during the day, and we enjoyed a few good lunches as well. It got cold, especially in the evening, but fires were brought in to the main area, and hot water bottles available. We went on a terrific hike, guided by 2 of the staff, who shared their extensive knowledge of the forest and surrounding area. (It was billed as 5km, but we reckoned it was nearer 15km, with a lot of climbing up and down hills - but well worth the effort). I would definitely look forward to staying...

Read moreUnfortunately, it is nearly impossible for me to recommend this place.
We arrived after dark and were expecting to stay in a basic hut, but were told that they didn't have a room for us. (Mind you, I was already charged 45 USD for this hut we were supposed to stay in). We were then put in the workers quarters, which basically had no facilities and were cold and uncomfortable. I understand that the staff had little to no other choice regarding where to put us, but given the fact that THEY messed up the booking and then stuck us in an uncomfortable staff room, they should NOT have charged us.
Yet, we were still charged 20 USD for this horrible room! On top of that, we were charged another 22 USD for a basic, not great pizza meal that we were under the impression was included in the price we were paying. I've paid less for a fancy meal in Kigali!
The staff was VERY nice and friendly, but overall we were incredibly disappointed with how our situation was handled. Now, I have to make an effort to make sure they don't charge me twice since they made us pay in cash when we were there even though we had already been charged on our card.
HIGHLY disappointed with our...
