Sava je rijeka u sjevernoj BIH i najveća od svih rijeka u zemlji. Nastaje spajanjem rijeka Save Dolinke i Save Bohinjke u blizini Lancova u Sloveniji. Iz Slovenije prelazi u Hrvatsku, teče kroz, a nakon toga čini granicu između BIH i Hrvatske, zatim malim dijelom ulazi u Bosnu i Hercegovinu, pa onda čini jednim dijelom granicu između BiH i Srbije, da bi na kraju ušla u Srbiju, gdje se u  Beogradu ulijeva u Dunav. Zajedno sa Savom Dolinkom dužine je oko 990 km. Po zapremini vode najveća je pritoka Dunava i druga do površini sliva (97.713 km2) i dužini, nakon Tise. Njen sliv obuhvata u velikoj mjeri područje Dinarida odakle skupljaju vodu njene veće pritoke: Drina , Bosna, Kupa, Una, Vrbas, Lonja, Kolubara, Bosut i Krka. Највећа ријека бивше СФРЈ. Углавном пловна. Сада протиче кроз 4 државе. Припада црноморском сливу. Улива се у Дунав код Београда. Обилује богатим рибним свијетом. Штета што се не брине довољно о њеној чистоћи....
