I recently made a trip out to Kranji Dam, and honestly, it was one of those experiences that makes you wonder why more people don’t talk about it. As someone who usually spends his evenings either stuck in traffic or glued to screens, getting out here felt like hitting a reset button.
The first thing that hits you is the quiet. It’s not the bustling crowd of East Coast Park or Marina Bay — it’s calm, almost meditative. The water stretches out lazily, reflecting the sky, and the occasional bird swooping down adds just the right touch of nature. I took a walk along the embankment and could feel the tension from the week slowly melting away. There’s also a decent path for cycling if you’re feeling more active.
Sunset here is something else. The way the orange and pink hues dance across the water makes it perfect for photos, or just sitting back and enjoying the moment. The breeze is light but noticeable, giving that extra edge of refreshment. One thing to note: there aren’t food stalls around, so I grabbed a bottle of water and some snacks beforehand — definitely worth it to fully enjoy the experience without worrying about hunger.
Overall, Kranji Dam isn’t flashy or crowded, but it’s exactly why I liked it. It’s a place to unplug, breathe, and just appreciate a bit of nature. For anyone looking to escape the city chaos for a couple of hours, I’d recommend it...

The carpark is packed in the day during...
