🟨 Old Chang Kee 500, Lorong 6, Toa Payoh, #01-34 HDB Hub, Singapore 310500
🟧 This is my regular go-to Old Chang Kee kiosk if I need a bowl of delicious Curry Chicken to go with my white rice ( nasi puteh) or Roti Perancis ( ie baguette). 🟦 I grew up in a true-blue Peranakan Cina family for decades, and am super picky over what I eat. ( ➖️ just like my foster Baba father)
🟦 But I must say = 🟦 the Old Chang Kee Curry Chicken or Ayam Kari gravy is the closest in flavour and taste to what my late mum used to cook. ● Pairing the curry with plain white rice (nasi puteh) or even a crusty baguette ( roti perancis) makes for a deeply satisfying meal.
🟡 Besides the curry, my hubby and I also enjoy their small fried treats like fishballs, prawn fritters, and crab nuggets. ⬛️ Decor of Old Chang Kee kiosk or shop = ⬛️ The kiosk itself is modest and nondescript, nestled into a bustling corner of Toa Payoh Central ( HDB mall area).
⬛️ There’s nothing fancy about the decor — just a practical takeaway counter — but that’s part of Old Chang Kee’s charm. Service is quick, efficient, and no-nonsense, which is exactly what busy office workers and neighbourhood folks appreciate. 🟣 Location = it is a short walk from Toa Payoh Bus Interchange itself. ➖️ ️ It is near the other end of the MRT train escalators. 🟣 It's adjacent to NTUC Supermarket side.
🟢 My hubby informed me during morning peak breakfast hours, Old Chang Kee also sells economical-style bee hoon. ● You can tambah ( Malay for "add on") extra ingredients like the fishballs or other fried ingredients. Sedap sekali 🧡.
🟢 Overall, Old Chang Kee is more than just a snack kiosk; it’s a familiar brand embedded in the sub-consciousness of generations of Singaporeans. This Toa Payoh outlet continues that legacy well.

If you really want Old Chang Kee for a snack in the evening, just go later in the night or buy and keep in the afternoon
Most of the items are gone after 6pm anyway so best to just go in the afternoon.
Most of the times I bought food there, the staff is usually not in the best of moods but I guess you can't be expected to be happy if you are working in a very hot environment in a very humid place with no air-con
Best time to go buy snacks is around 3pm so make sure you go...
Read moreI really like this store now! After my previous feedback was picked up by the management, the unfriendly lady was replaced by this super friendly one. She’s amazing — she actually remembers my usual choice! Omg, she really has such a good memory and always makes my day. She’s calm, cheerful, and handles situations well, even when the card machine doesn’t work properly. I never feel stressed....
