Otliško okno — Local services in Ajdovščina

This trek was pretty worth it. We drove to the base village of Otlica and parked just at the end by the observatory (astronomski observatorij AD Nanos) in google currently.

We walked about 5km slowly ascending till we reached the famous hole, with all sorts of legends attached to it beginning with a Giant and his lover. The walk took about 2 hours and then we continued past the hole to get to the most scenic peak of the mountain where all the paragliders go.

If you turn off before that and follow signs, you can reach some stone circle sections which are quite old and unique also.

Once we reached the ridge we walked about an hour along it and ascended into a second village where there was just a single house offering homemade grappa for tips.

From that path you take a sharp left to return through small hedgerows and fields to the initial stone circle area and continue back down again from there.

Definitely recommend a pack lunch, water and good hiking shoes as the gravel and plant matter is slippery in places. Very much feels like returning to biblical times here. Very wild, rural and uninhabited, only by the sheep that would graze back...

Otliško okno is a very solid hiking destination if you start your journey in Ajdovščina. In this case, you're looking at just under two hours of walking, which will benefit from better hiking shoes and walking poles. The views at the top are breathtaking, stretching across the entire Vipava Valley. I chose the circular route and enjoyed walking off the marked trails in places, but it's better to stick to the signs, of which there are plenty.

Lepa tura dolga dobro uro je primerna za vsakogar. Pot je na začetku položna in postopoma narašča v strmo. Človek se dodobra že navadi na tempo tako, da z lahkoto zagrize v strmino. Ampak še zmeraj je obvladljiva, saj se sreča veliko družin z otroki, ki veselo nabirajo korake. Pod vrhov se vam odpre prelep pogled na Vipavsko dolino in njeno okolico. Še višje se vam pokaže okno do katerega lahko pristopite. Ampak ne, to ni še pravo Otliško okno. Do njega bo treba še nekaj korakov. Tik pod vrhov vas kažipoti informirajo kam naprej. Tu se lahko ustavite, pozvonite za srečno pot, se podpišete in potem nadaljujete desno proti oknu. Kmalu se spustite kot v nekakšno vrtačo, kjer se na dnu odpre Otliško s svojim čudovitim pogledom na Ajdovščino in okolico. Čudovit občutek ima človek, verjetno okno posrka vse slabe...
