Rust de Winter Nature Reserve — Local services in Bela Bela Local Municipality

Went on a fishing and camping weekend. The dam is beautiful and the bass fishing is great! The reserve has recently increased their prices and cash only.

The roads inside the reserve are not in good condition - you need a 4x4.

There is game to see along the banks of the river and there are crocodiles and hippos.

The boat ramp is decent (and I believe the only place to now launch as Montle Metse has closed).

I only saw a few actions of water hyacinth - so it's being managed well.

The ablution facilities - They are beyond shocking. All the mens toilets out of order, no working showers and the building is falling apart with holes in the floor. When the toilet is flushed the water leaks all over the floor.

I have been coming here for many years now and as a fully self sufficient bush camp it is incredible, the view of the dam is amazing, the sunsets are to die for and the camping sites are great.

The ablutions are basically non existent which is why I say you should come fully equipped to be self sufficient. There are toilets that work but are a distance away from the camping sites.

There are long drops at each site for if you are a true happy camper😂

Other than that, the fishing is great, alot of 0.5kg -1.5kg fish, but while I was there 3 people caught 3kg+ bass and bream including my own 2.5kg Nembwe.

Will definitely keep going back, and it's great to see that new signs have been put up and that there is more maintenance starting...

Awesome place for camping, fishing, beautiful pics. Entrance ticket is 50rands , inside roads are not good.. so good to go on 4x4 car. This is near by mystic monkeys. So when you visit that do visit this as well. Much recommended. Better to carry cash for this place as we won't have proper singles inside. Also network free area as you won't get any...
