Wer die R 102, den sogenannten bloukrans pass, ab der N 2 befährt um die Landschaft zu genießen, der wird eine enge, kurvenreiche Strecke vorfinden, die hin und wieder auch mal mit herunterliegenden Ästen oder Einschwemmungen von Erde behindert sein kann. Trotzdem rentiert es sich - die Landschaft ist wunderschön und man ist oft lange Zeit alleine unterwegs in der Natur. Wer allerdings hofft, die bloukrans bridge fotografieren zu können, wird enttäuscht sein, denn die Sicht darauf ist massiv zugewuchert. Im weiteren Verlauf kommt man auf der Strecke an coldstream, einem sehr armen Dorf vorbei.

Bloukrans pass is indicated as closed but can still be driven if you can pass the heaps of gravel placed on the road surface. Road in a reasonable condition but should only be taken if you want to see the beauty of the pass. Many places the road is very narrow and care should be taken around bends. Luckily because road is closed there are hardly any traffic. Take your time to drive this beautiful pass is must be one of the most beautiful passes in...

It’s an incredible experience, but this pass must be driven with care. In most spots the roads are narrow and wind down and up in ways that make it impossible to see oncoming vehicles. We came across some branches and rocks that had fallen onto the road as well, making it slightly more tricky. Take it easy if you choose to...

Went through the "closed" Bloukrans pass. Still stunning. Vegetation on the Eastern Cape side encroaching the road and near the bottom half the road washed away. Plenty of signs of rock slides as well. More reason...
