I travelled from Brisbane,Australia via Dubai to Durban. I requested Assistance as I have a back injury and cannot climb stairs or walk long distance. The airport assistance at Brisbane International was 9/10. At Dubai airport it was a nightmare. It was before 07.00. I do understand that this is a huge airport and the distance to Terminal 3 to board for Durban is quite far. There was a lot of walking, changing from one buggy to another, waiting for a buggy, insufficient guidance given to passengers as to which buggy to get onto, passengers were tired and anxious after a 14hr flight but had to continue to ask personnel for clear instructions.I was left in the waiting area away from the Gate and the porter left.I had to see myself through the gate where passengers were once again confused as to what was required, who was to board etc. Just one member of staff checking boarding pass to ensure passengers boarded according to area designated on the Pass. Some passengers just pushed through and was difficult for the person to check. On arrival in Durban wheelchairs were so close to the exit. All porters and their supervisors so neat, smart and professional in their appearance and attitude.A female checked the list quickly and efficiently and I was made safe abd comfortable in a clean wheelchair and pushed through by a friendly well-mannered young man in a neat and very smart suit.Such a pleasure to have this excellent service after a 5 hour layover in Dubai airport with chaos and an 8hour flight from Dubai to Durban. My luggage was duly collected and the porter immediately noticed that one suitcase was badly damaged… very alert. He wheeled me and the luggage trolley to the Baggage Counter where a kind, efficient female took down details and gave me all the information I required. She was so good that it made me feel at ease knowing that she knew she is well-trained. Porter too was well-trained.The porter took pictures of the suitcase as I requested. He had infinite patience. I was so proud of them and so proud to be a South African. Despite all the poverty and other issues in our beloved country we are a humble nation with great respect. The Spirit of Ubuntu🙏🏽 Dubai with all its extravaganza is no match for our country when it comes to Assistance for Passengers. All that glitters is Not Gold. Under-staffed, untidy staff look like they’re under-paid and need more training, insufficient wheelchairs that look over-used and grubby.

I am 75 yrs and a frequent international flyer. It was only my 2nd time with assistance in the last 12 months. ( I did not request for assistance on other international travels as I could walk with no problems) Both times with Emirates from Durban to Australia return. Same experience both times.

10/10 for our professional, well-mannered, cheerful team at King Shaka Airport Durban. Yours is the first face passengers/ visitors see when they get o out the plane… this first impression is just too amazing for words. God bless you all. Keep up this excellent 1st impression of our beautiful country and tourism will make rapid progress as foreigners will...

Durban's King Shaka International Airport is a gateway to the vibrant city of Durban and the stunning KwaZulu-Natal region. Having recently visited this airport, I was impressed by its modern amenities and efficiency.

The airport's sleek design and South African cultural influences provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Its terminal is well-organized and user-friendly, making check-in and security processes a breeze. The airport offers a range of domestic and limited international flights, making it a convenient choice for both local and international travelers.

Dining options at King Shaka Airport cater to various tastes, offering a delightful range of local and international cuisine. Duty-free shops provide opportunities to purchase unique South African products, including indigenous arts and crafts, allowing travelers to take home a piece of the local culture.

What sets this airport apart is its proximity to the city center and major tourist destinations, ensuring quick and easy access to Durban's beautiful beaches, wildlife reserves, and cultural attractions. The sweeping views of the Indian Ocean from the airport terminal serve as a tantalizing introduction to the scenic beauty of the region.

Overall, King Shaka International Airport is a well-maintained and traveler-friendly airport that efficiently connects visitors to Durban's splendor. It offers a smooth entry point for exploring the cultural and natural wonders of KwaZulu-Natal and the East Coast of...

Was a very pleasant experience. Staff at airport were all so helpful. Check in staff were very patient and accommodating. One bag was overweight. She allowed us some time, to move some luggage to another suite case. She even left her desk to borrow a per of a scissor to cut the cable used on our bags. On our return our luggages were received reasonable time.

The roads leading to the airport are all in fair condition. The signage are all clear and easy to understand. The airport has sufficient parking but a little expensive. Parking in some areas can be shocking, when it's time to pay. Pick up and drop off zones very convenient. It's nearby and under shelter. Trolley are easily available and are clean and good working condition. Unlike when you have to pick a trolley at a supermarket, u have look and a clean and working one.

The airport is very clean tidy. There are numerous shops. You are actually spoilt for choices. There's lots of eating outlets like Steers, Nandos, KFC, Mug and Bean, Wimpy and Spur. They all have good and reasonably eating environments.

The toilets are all very clean all the time. There was always a cleaner making sure all in order.

The only thing I wish the King Shaka Airport should have, is viewing deck like, the one the was at Louis Botha Airport ( old Airport). Also Lensria Airport has one. I personally think this what King Shaw Airport is missing. Maybe should be in thought for...
