Nice small airport attached to a military base. Arrival: -There is no jet bridges, all planes use stairs here. Short walk from plane to terminal. -baggage claim was a room with a large U shape wood bench, and a garage door, where the baggage cart pulls up and they off load bags directly to you. -There is a gate to pass for entry/exit, i dont remember what the driver did, but i think they had the bar code sticker on windshield scanned. That happens often in south africa. Departure: -Airport has lots of signs and labels that help you find anything easily, its also not a large airport. -Check in for my Airlink flight was easy, they have maybe 10 check in counters, and airlink was 4 or 5 of them. No wait time, but i was early for my flight too. -A few different car and tour agencies outside. -There is a Curios shop for gifts and souvenirs -A small convinces store before security check, beside the restaurant. -A restaurant, Elsas deli, good menu, i just had chocolate milkshake. -Past security there is a small, "hole in the wall" convinces store you can buy drinks or snacks. -Washrooms are good -2 gates, side by side. It was mass chaos when they asked for both large plane flights to line up at the same time, as people were not on one side...
Read moreWhat a gem of an airport! I will strongly recommend to anyone from Limpopo looking to fly to Cape Town. You get to avoid the horrible N1 and its traffic and rather go to Hoedspruit and fly directly from there to Cape Town. There are 2 service providers, SA Airlink and a lesser known Cemair. I travelled with Cemair recently, and what a pleasure. It is exactly on par with any other airline brand, with the benefit of their flights not being booked as full. Cemair tickets are not more expensive than its competitors, and a little known fact is it costs basically the same to fly directly from Hoedspruit to Cape Town, as it would from JHB with the benefit of skipping the N1 highway, toll gates, congestion and massively overcomplicated Oliver Tambo Airport. Cemair is truly a well run airline and they provided the best service. Go and check them out, they cover most major routes at very competitive prices. We'll done Eastgate / Hoedspruit Airport and Cemair for a wonderful...

You can rent cars at the airport and there's shuttle services. There is a restaurant where you can order coffee, beer, juice and light meals like croissants, muffins, cookies, wraps, burgers and pies. The food is good and all the cakes are baked there. The coffee is good and they have a wine list. There's a gift shop where you can buy some gifts. The toilets are clean and the atmosphere is good. It takes you about 20min to get to the airport...
