One of the most memorable experiences of the Cape you could possibly have! The beach facility of the parks is a pay beach that costs 75 Rand per adult and 40 Rand per child. It opens peak season at 0700 and closes at 1800. Be sure to get there super early to secure a position in the 200 beach visitors permitted, there is however no real policing if the alloted number of visitors (arm bands or the such) and can tend to get rather crowded as the day draws on. Swim alongside the African Penguins in their natural surroundings and explore the kelp and marine life. Take care to remove your litter when you leave. Penguins are wild animals and WILL peck if threatened. If you do not wish to come across their faeces or are delicate to natural smells rather visit another beach. (PS: you probably will also see Cape Dassies - small cute rodent type animals that live in groups...

This mornings drive took us to Bettys Bay .Its Located in the quaint coastal town of Betty’s Bay in the Overberg, the Stony Point Nature Reserve is home to a unique colony of African Penguins. Stony Point offers the public the chance to see these wonderful flightless birds up close, via the boardwalk through the colony, which allows the public to observe the penguins go about their daily activities in their natural habitat, without disturbing or disrupting them.

Also present in the colony are three species of cormorant; the Crowned cormorant, Cape cormorant and Bank cormorant, all of which breed on the outer rocks. There are also Hartlaub’s Gulls and Kelp Gulls which forage in the colony, while the Rock Hyrax, more commonly known as the Dassie, can be seen on the surrounding rocks . Great place to see penguins on their natural habitat .Really enjoyed...

For Betty's Bay and Simon's Town to visit the penguins, my biggest difference is that Stony point is more vivid and natural than Boulder beach! There is no noise from vendors and crowds; and there are no too many artificial fences that make us feel closer to the penguins.

Secondly, Stony point fares are cheaper; half-jokingly: one belongs to local residents, another one belongs to foreign tourists.

Plus: The penguins at Stony point have neighbors: Rock Rabbits! You can find them at the entrance; they are timid, please don't startle them.

Finally, a special recommendation: For the penguin viewing itinerary at Betty's Bay, please stop by the Harold Porter Botanical Garden; if possible, go to the Kleinmond Harbour for seafood...

Tooooooooo much penguins it’s a city of penguins. Not even a city, a country. There are probably a 100 of these minions. Idk why I made name for some of them. The one who was walking by the boardwalk is Timmy. The one who looks like they are is screaming is Timmy’s brother or sister is jimmy. The dassie is wombat. That is ones I remember.
