I have been a club member of different Virgin Active clubs for over 8 years. First time in 8 years that I became a victim of a crime at Virgin Active and at this specific Honeydew location. Your personal belongings are not safe in the locker rooms, even if you use a combination lock. I went for a 30 minute workout, when I came back my combination lock was gone, my gym bag and handbag were opened and only my mobile phone was stolen out of my handbag. What used to feel like a "happy place" can stop feeling like a safe place to go to. Theft in locker rooms, feels like an invasion of privacy, especially since it is supposed to be the safest space in the Gym. What makes it worse, is finding out that I am not the only woman that this happened to in a very short space of time. Mobile phone thievery and thieves at Virgin Active, seem to be a rampantly common and frequent thing. Virgin Active may consider appointing a female security guard specifically for the female locker room and a male security guard for the male locker room to show they really care about their customers, especially since there is no cameras in the locker rooms to spot these thieves. I do not know if there is a mobile phone theft "syndicate" group operating there by people who are either active gym members or people who clean the locker rooms and work for Virgin Active itself, perhaps their cleaners and members should be screened properly for any criminal record before being allowed to work or Gym there. Virgin Active can really try to do better with their security measures. I have not received any feedback from their staff since reporting the theft to them, it seems they do not really care at all and members are just supposed to expect and/or ACCEPT the risk that they may be a victim of crime at any time without complaining, and tough luck to their honest gym members and what they may possibly lose in the process. And if only your mobile phone gets stolen out of your bag and nothing else gets taken, you may also get gaslighted by the staff you report it to, making it seem like you may be making things up and calling it strange. It is clear that if you intend to keep going there for exercise, that you should keep all your personal belongings close to you and at all times, and watch out for any odd loitering persons standing too close to your handbag or Gym bag. I doubt the police will find the thief, as Virgin Active's staff is anything BUT proactive in helping to prevent crime on their premises. Store your mobile phone's IMEI number to blacklist a stolen phone device on all Mobile service networks, and get an ITC "blacklist" reference number from the Sim-Card mobile service provider, blocking the Sim-Card and "blacklisting" the mobile device is not enough, you should also get an ITC "blacklist" reference number from the mobile service provider and give it to the police, apparently that is how theft "syndicates" can get caught during...
Read moreI like the ride studio and the view out the big windows. The bicycles need to be checked though for nigglies. But all good.
Updated January 2023 from a ⭐⭐ to ⭐⭐⭐ star: The ride studio is WOW,the spinning bikes have all been replaced with upgraded bikes after moons of complaining from ninjas and the studio has been upgraded as well - a revamped setting and lights.Parking is more than sufficient, cannot comment on any further security breaches but do see improvements since the thefts of cars some time ago, one being right in front of the door of VA. There is a guard in a watch tower and booms with cameras at the entrance.(But with loadshedding?).
With the amazing view that compliments the stationary ride, I am contemplating on moving back from Little Falls VA if LF don't upgrade their spinning bikes just for the spinning. The only reason for a 3 star is that the entire gym, although nice is small and extremely busy during peak hour, one would have to go during off peak time to get what you want unless it's a booked class that you arrive before the time to ensure you...
Read moreVirgin Active SA thank you for nothing/ my husband signed me up for off peak / the consultant did not explain enough / I asked about the only TWO things I do which is Zumba on a Tuesday at 8am and Friday morning at 7am . For 4 months I’ve been coming to only those two classes, without an issue nor hassle. This morning I am denied access . Yes I’m early to meet a friend who I have invited to join up . I understand your guide lines but I was told the most ridiculous thing that now because Virgin Active Eagle Canyon has a generator and NO LOADSHEDDING H/o has implemented this rule. It now means that I can only do one class on a Tuesday ////: I cannot for personal reasons and will not do anything else!!!!!! You guys have signed me up under false pretences!!!! It’s aweful that a brand like this changes the goal posts after 4 months . I am unemployed and do not have extra to pay every month. Should #richardbrandson be tagged to get...
