We booked night drives on two consecutive nights at Marrick. Marrick are known for to view the lesser seen nocturnal creatures.
On the first night, it was windy with rain in the area and they cancelled. This was fine as we had booked in the summer and this was a risk we were aware of.
On the second night, we arrived to find similarly windy conditions but no signs of rain so we embarked on the drive. However just over an hour later, the drive was ended without any discussion. Bearing in mind that we had paid R3500 for the drive that was meant to last 3-4 hours, we were very disappointed by this.
I emailed them to make them aware of my thoughts. Predictably there was no response so I followed that up with another email and then the owner, Trevor called me. He sounded very understanding on the phone and promised a partial refund, which I was happy with but didn't discuss an amount.
To my utter surprise, we got refunded a rather insulting sum of R1000, rather than what might be a more reasonable sum of say 2/3rd of the amount paid, reflecting the lost portion of the safari.
Attempts to follow up with the owner have been ignored.
I have made some enquiries and been advised that the nearby Mokala National Park offer night drives that are just as productive and cost a fraction of what Marrick charge.
So save your money and go elsewhere. This lot are just rip...

The ranger was quite good & knew the animals but we couldn’t hear him because the vehicle is not conducive to a great safari experience. He sat in the car the whole time and shouted through the window. I would definitely NOT recommend this as a place to go for a good...
