My favourite beach in Cape Town. Great for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and paddling. The big rock furthest away where the sea lions rest is called strawberry rocks. There is a beautiful sea forest with many underwater caves to explore. Better to go during high tide because the entry points are more difficult to get through during low tide. There are multiple entry points, ask the locals for advice. The water is very cold, at least 10-12 degrees, sometimes colder, so using a wetsuit is advisable, unless you want some cold water therapy. You have options of sand and rocks to sit on. The main beach is is referred to as Cosy Bay, and is accessible via a wooden staircase. There is also a smaller beach around the side referred to as Sandy cove. The whole area falls within the oudekraal nature reserve and is a marine protected area, so you cannot spearfish. Beautiful sunsets from the rocks. Peaceful place, you can hear birds and are surrounded by trees and big boulders. Feels like a island paradise. There are no toilets, but during the festive season they install portable toilets. There is parking and it is a relatively safe area. The car guards are usually street people, so be nice and tip them. Regards...
Read moreLovely little beach. It's a pity about the broken glass and some scattered litter, definitely more visible over the years. Broken glass that's been battered by the ocean makes for an interesting find. Generally very clean and quiet. Crystal clear waters. Perfect water temp in summer, freezer cold in winter but refreshing nonetheless. They have benches out by the parking/look out. Nice place to sit and just be while looking out at the ocean. The stairs going down to the beach are steep...
Read moreA nice hidden beach Cove that's well protected by large Boulders. It's unfortunate for the homeless people living in amongst the boulders making for an unsafe feeling if one is alone in the area. Nevertheless if it's busy it's a good vibe and there is off street parking with a wooden stepped path down to the beach. For diving don't go to the the beach, head further south, about 100m or so, or park on the side of the road and enter via the pathways down between...
