The Gakwonsa Temple is nestled at the foot of Mount Taejosan located halfway from the peak of Taejosan Mountain, a natural landmark of Cheonan. It is the second largest temple in South Korea after Gyeongju Bulguksa Temple, and it is a very popular tourist spot in Cheonan City. The Jueyuan Temple is composed of Taizu Mountain Tower, Jinghai Tower, Guanyin Hall, Daxiong Hall, Thousand Buddha Hall, Mountain Temple, and Qixing Hall. A 60 tons bronze statue of a seated Buddha with it’s 15 meters in high, with the main peak of Taizu Mountain as a background sitting on the east and facing the west, welcomes all visitors with a compassionate and calming smile. To the left of the statue is the largest Buddhist prayer hall in Korea, the Daeungbojeon Hall, which along other temple buildings, draws many Buddhist followers. Around the Temple complex there are numerous nature trails winding through the forest and up the mountain. There is no admission fee, and there is plenty of parking. The landscape is nice. The architecture can be mixxed with the enviroment. You should come here at least 1 time in your life. You can find the big statue of Buddha. This look diffirently when you compare with the Buddha status in Bongeungsa in Seoul. Beside seeing the statue, you can see the urban landscape near the top of the moutain. The furniture inside this place has two types : historic or cute. I love seeing the pictures inside the praying room. They simulate many Zen story.
